    MUST HAVES
    ×

    Set the Scene
    • Anchor a weather-loving table and comfy chairs with an outdoor rug.
    • Add hurricane lanterns, citronella candles, and moisture-proof chandeliers, lamps, and sconces.
    • Provide shade with an umbrella or add heat lamps for chilly evenings.
    • Keep music low and choose a diverse playlist (see ours for suggestions).
    Stock the Bar
    • Count on four to five glasses of wine per 750 ml bottle and about two glasses per hour per guest.
    • Have one great signature cocktail already prepared; offer water and other basics, too.
    • Stock up on ice, pitchers, straws, and other help-yourself essentials.
    Serve the Meal
    • Keep centerpieces low and natural, such as garden flowers or votive candles in simple glasses.
    • Consider using your "good" dishes and stemware to add a touch of elegance to an outside affair.
    • Fill containers with extra flatware (especially spoons) to scatter on table.
Finally, remember that guests will enjoy a simple meal and relaxed host far more than a complicated dinner.
