We used this fountain at our grandaughter's wedding reception and it was simply beautiful. The stainless steel finish shined until the moonlight. Typically, chocolate fountains shouldn't be used outdoors, but luckily our chocolate supplier has a "fountain saver" product that allowed our chocolate fountain to properly work outdoors. We get our chocolate from Chocoley and will never use another brand. We put their Just Melt It! milk chocolate into the fountain and it was absolutely phenomenal! So smooth, rich, and delicious. The fountain's chocolate capacity is excellent--it can hold up to 20lbs! Great size for a wedding reception. Overall, everyone was very pleased with this fountain and the ease of its low mainentance operation. My husband and I can't wait until our next grandchild gets married. The machine functioned perfectly, but I would implore first time users (as we were) to conduct a FULL SCALE TEST RUN before party time. Follow instructions exactly and assume 3 to 5 hours of kitchen counter-top time from opening box to final clean up. (1 hour hands on, rest is wait and see time)
The plastic components require careful handling but are perfectly serviceable. Don't force anything. Have a small ladle ready to add premelted chocolate.
Paper towels are a must.
Melting the chocolate in the fountain takes longer than you might imagine. We premelted in a double boiler. (Microwave 'test' melt resulted in cooked chocolate..)
The machine MUST be perfectly level for fountain effect. Don't forget to 'kick-start' the Archimedes screw if the flow is not even... this is mentioned in instructions but should be highlighted.
Strawberry etc should be chilled, as on ice in bowl. Chilled surface will cause chocolate to solidify on fruit and not leave trail of drips or run down fingers of unwary guests...Children don't care but adult guests need to be warned...
Table covering must have plastic underliner and be disposable.
Pouring unused chocolate back into containers is something of a challenge. Plan ahead. Chocolate is very hot and will scald fingers. Cleanup required lots of hot soapy water and about 15 minutes of diligent work. (as in old toothbrush and Q-tips)
Bottom line: DO try this at home before event. At event, start melting first while you are doing other things. Have machine in its location and do not attempt to move it with hot chocolate in fountain...if you don't spill it you will be unable to level it (easily) and make sure paper towels are handy.
(tip: tear of many sheets before needing them... paper towel rolls and chocolate covered fingers aren't a great match in a panic.)
(tip: If it going to be a large event, talk a friend to be at test cycle... learn system... friend becomes designated fountain czar and have no other duties during setup... friend should be an ex-test pilot and have great patience)

I recently established my own small rental business that operates on the weekends. I specifically work with weddings and use this fountain with the majority of my clients. This fountain is great. It took less than one month to pay itself off.
