Catskill Craftsmen Super Island Plus with Raised Panels and Drop Leaf - 64238

The wood is great, carpentry is great. I have had to redrill the pilot holes for drawer slides in both the current cabinet and an earlier cabinet which I purchased. I suspect that the drawer slide vendor may have changed its holes pattern since you designed the pilot hole locations.

We received the unit within a week, a couple of panels were damaged. We emailed Catskill, and replacement panels hardware were shipped. Assembly was not too bad. It went fine until we were ready to slide in the divider panels for the bottom section, one of the holes for the dowel pins were not in the correct location. We ended up not using a dowel pin for that hole, it was fine. Other than that, were happy. It offers alot of extra storage space, and a large countertop to work with. Looks great too!

Absolutely high quality with great company support. Solid hardwood construction that assembles with ease (budget 3-4 hours for slow methodical assembly); well engineered with tremendous storage space. The upper draw can hit the drop leaf supports and may need simple modification with a coping saw, again with good company responsiveness and support. Suggest that the top drawer have increased height and bottom shelving slightly reduced height to accommodate this change so drawer can more easily contain serving pieces or flatware trays. This issue should not be a deal killer for this model.

I bought this item, rather than similar products costing much less because I wanted a quality product. I was disappointed and found that I could have spent $100's less and gotten better results. The various problems were:[...].2. Assembly was time consuming and required two people.3. Instructions were illustrated with bad drawings with proportions way off making it extra hard to identify parts. For example a board nearly square appears in the drawings in the instructions as more than twice as long as wide. The manufacturer might have made it easier by applying labets to each wood part, but did not. All the hardware was lumped together in a bulk package rather than organized by instualltion steps. What made this especially difficult is that the manufacturer chose to use s variety of screws of the same length, but varying diameters such as #4, #5,#6, #7 making it difficult to be sure which screw was called for. Of course, an experienced assembler would have less trouble. 4.Some of the wood parts had grooves and screw holes that served no purpose to this unit. The instructions make it clear that the manufacturer does so to simplify its operations by using the same componenent in different products; the manufacturer is apparently indifferent to the confusion that this causes for the end user in assembling the unit.5. Absolutely none of the hardware was factory assembled. The much less expenisve unit which I bought subsequently had much hardware installed including drawer slides and the drop leaf hinges.

[...]. Direction better than most but there were a couple of areas that could be a little clearer. Two parts damaged but per Catskill Craftsmen, Inc. policy these were replaced without any issues.Looks like it will provide great extra workspace and storage space.

Service Review

Delivery was a week, as it was stated it would be. (178 pounds, so not really and express item.) UPS had dinged one of the 2 boxes. So 2 parts had damage. Contacted Catskill Craftsmen, Inc. per their instructions for phone or email contact. The email (sent at 9 PM) was responded to by 9 AM the next day with a note that the parts would ship immediately. GREAT service and follow-through at a time when most companies do the bare minimum!

Happy with my purchase- would buy again

I use the island to store my pots and pans in the middle section; the left side storage area I use to keep some of my cake decorating supplies (I have alot); and the right side storage area I use to keep my laundry cleaning supplies (my washer/dryer is in the kitchen and there was no place to keep these supplies except the floor previously or haul them out of a closet in a different room). I do some canning/freezing of fruits/vegetables and this island made this process so much easier this year. I really enjoy having this addition to my kitchen and I was thrilled to be able to purchase it for a much lesser price than I originally expected when I first started shopping for an island.

My husband is not a handyman so it was up to me to put the island together. I had no problem. I did have a part shipped that was broken but I just called and they sent a replacement right away. I would purchase something from this company again if I needed to. The Island is great. I have only had it for a while but it seems that it is working out well so far.

This product is even better then what we expected! Very good quality and construction. Putting it together was a bit challenging, but one person was able to do it with time and patience! We were very happy with the delivery time and the fact that even though we were missing a piece, it was sent immediately. Very great quality piece that we already enjoy having in our home!

I just love my new kitchen cart. My kitchen is now complete and roomier. I also have the extra space I needed for storage. I only wish I had purchased it sooner. I would recommend it to anyone who is considering purchasing it.
