Cat Trees & Condos

A few details - my cat is 6.1 pounds, a female bengal mix, and INCREDIBLY picky - I would suggest anyone who is about to buy a cat tree first make sure your cat will LIKE the material it's made out of first!I bought my cat this incredibly nice and plush fleece cat bed [...]and she refused to touch the thing even when it was covered in cat nip and had strings/bells dangling over it. So needless to say, I was extremely anxious whether or not she would even like this cat tree whatsoever.Thankfully the material, faux fur, turned out to be something she truly enjoys and she was already coming around and rubbing herself against the tree before I was done assembling it!Assembly was a breeze, the instructions were really quite straightfoward - if you have ever put together Lego's in your life, this will not post any problems for you. Like other people have said it is amazing how much they fit into a small little box. All the tools and screws are provided for you, so you won't need a separate set of tools of your own.The material itself is compressed particle board, which smells like the wood section of [...]but intensified with more glue. I would *highly* suggest airing this bad boy out or at the very least vacuuming it before your cat's delicate nose gets a whiff of it (it definitely gave me a sore throat from all the chemically smelling fumes).That being said, both the fur and the board material is pretty rugged and sturdy, I was initially afraid at having faux fur be the covering material but the way that it's glued onto the boards makes me feel if my cat ever does rip a hole in it, the rip will not propagate and just uncover the whole thing. One thing though - because they used glue to adhere the fur onto the board, there were some spots that were "rough" where excess glue is hidden underneath the fur cloth, it wouldn't have bothered me at all but there was a particularly big glob of it that is directly infront of the little tepee which my cat loves to sit in.My cat has already made herself home in the tree and has been actively jumping around from level to level, and the tree hasn't even come close to being tipped over so I feel the thing is pretty well balanced. Both the tepee and the upper room are big enough to fit my 6.1 lb cat nicely - and I've even added pillows/rug cushioning, which there's room for, as the faux fur material is soft but not thick or cushioned.A couple of notes - the hammock on the bottom is either too low or too awkward to get to due to pillars next to it, my cat hasn't even tried to look at it. The rope ladder I ended up not attaching because it just eats space and it doesn't seem like my cat wants anything to do with it. Also, the middle board on the long left pole where the top of the rope ladder would have been attached to, I rotated it sideways so my cat could have more of a ledge to use to jump to the upper level with the room, without rotating it, the upper L-shaped level with the room is perfectly flush above it vertically making it hard for my cat to jump up/down. The top basket also hasn't been used I think because it's hard to get to - my cat would have to jump from the top of the room to the small pole to enter the basket which I think is too precarious for her at this stage. Lastly, the topmost platform is insanely hard for her to get to for the same reason, maybe I just don't have that active of a cat, but I feel if there was a platform by the basket it would help her out alot in ascending the tree.All in all, for the price of [$] without tax or shipping costs, this thing cannot be beat! Happy to find this product is excellent quality, easy to assemble & looks attractive. We spent quite a bit of time researching cat condos & finally settled on this one due to the competitive price, [...], attractiveness, tall height & overall positive reviews. It was very easy to assemble in less than 30 mins, sturdy & well-built. The light color blends in well with the walls & the simple design is classy. The only slight negative was that there was a rather strong chemical smell to it at first, maybe from the glue or new fabric. But the odor disappeared after a few days & is no longer an issue. Our cat is now enjoying sitting on top of it when we place him there & looking out the window from his high vantage point. We are certain that eventually he will enjoy climbing it on his own & scratching it as he gets more used to it."..."  Read more

This Cat Tree is absolutely beautiful and top quality, it is very sturdy and very tall, the carpet is very soft, just wish it was a little thicker, hopefully it will last. The only thing is the house & teepee are a little small for bigger cats, I lifted my cat up onto it to get him adjusted to it and to let him know it's his. When I put him in the house his head stuck out the one door and his back end stuck out the other door but he can still use it, the teepee is even smaller, he would have to bend down to get in it, it is almost too tight a squeeze for him. I tried to put him in it, but he got scared and jumped down before I could really tell if he could squeeze into it. The basket seems okay, I put him in there but he jumped down once again before I could really tell, and the perch seems big enough too, I didn't put him on that yet, I haven't tried the hammock yet either, but I think he could squeeze into that one too. All in all, I think once he is used to it, he will love it, because he loves to climb and jump onto things. I bought this so that hopefully he would stop jumping on my tables and places he shouldn't be, because he keeps breaking all my valuables when he jumps on them. My cat always takes time with new things before using them, if for some reason he doesn't use it, then I guess I will have to adopt a new Kitty so it won't go to waste. Just an excuse to get another pet. I love animals, my cat is a Siamese and is 6 yrs. old but very active, loves to play, he is 12 1/2 inches high and 11 inches long, big kitty. I also have a little Chihuahua that is 7 yrs. old and loves to run and play, he fits better in the houses than my cat unfortunately. I bet I will find him climbing on it. I had only one problem putting this together, in that the boards were marked incorrectly, and the picture directions were hard to read, so I ended up putting the taller poles on the wrong end of the base and wondered why the holes weren't lining up correctly with the next board that went on top of it. I thought the boards were drilled incorrectly [...] Then I had my Father look at them and we then realized they were incorrectly marked and that the poles were on the wrong end of the board, [...] Once we realized what was wrong, we got it put together in no time, very easy to do and we really didn't need the picture directions after that.I would definately recommend this cat tree and this company to everyone I know that has pets. I am very satisfied. I just wish that the houses and things were made a little bigger so bigger kitties can get more use out of it and enjoy it more. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, was because of the size of the houses and things not being big enough for bigger cats to really be comfortable in, otherwise terrific. Having looked at cat trees for a very long time, I finally decided on this one. It is exactly what I wanted for my two cats. Unfortunately, after a week they still have not played on it much, but I think they will with time. I do not think that should reflect on the recommendation of this product or website.While the quality of the cat tree is not the highest, I just don't think there is a better deal to be had. After a few minutes of figuring out which parts matched the assembly diagram, it did not take long to put it together and was so easy. I did copy another reviewer's changes on the assembly and like it better than how it is shown for sale. Overall, it looks great and is a perfect size for my small condo, in my opinion. The prices for cat trees on this website are just unbelievable, [...] and I have told all my cat lover friends!Two small wishes...that there was a better choice of colors in the style of cat tree I wanted and that Wayfair also sold more pet supplies for one stop shopping."..."  Read more
