Okay. So you'll never realize just how big a 32" scratching post is until you see one for yourself. When I saw my 18 lb Egyptian Mau drive his claws into this thing and suspend his entire body in midair, I almost killed over laughing. I actually love the fact that this scratching post is humongous. It's the only one that I've had that kitty is not capable of knocking over. On a serious note... Kitty was scheduled to get declawed last week due to various items around my home being shredded on a regular basis. Aside from the fact that it's a cruel thing to do to an animal who's sole pleasure in life is to scratch things, I read that declawing your cat can completely change their personality. After discussing it with my vet, I had decided in the end that I really had not tried "everything". Instead of spending the money to have the "procedure", I ordered the Ultimate Scratching Post by SmartCat in conjunction with a 78" tall ArmarKat tower. As Basile gazed at his early Christmas presents with bewilderment, I realized the truth as to why I have holes in the corner of my spare bedroom mattress. My kitty was scratching my furniture and carpets because I'm at the office all day and he's bored senseless. Now my baby has his very own furniture to tear the mess out of, as it is intended for! Bottom Line... your cat loves you. If they're doing something that you don't like, it's because they're trying to tell you something is wrong. I almost made a really stupid decision that would have ultimately affected the well being of my pet. Finding the right alternative for your cat is "trying everything". 5 stars for design 5 stars for cat love 5 stars for shipping/delivery time 1 star for the sisal scratching pad I paid extra to get the sisal scratching mat at the front of the perch. Unfortunately, the top right corner has already dislodged and is sticking out, and each time I try to shove it back into the frame, the cat undoes it. It's a great perch, and my cat took to it right away and sleeps there often, but I'm disappointed that I paid extra for a feature that fell apart less than one day after receiving it. If I'm going to pay $150+ for a piece of cat furniture, I'd expect there to be better attention to this construction detail. To others thinking of getting this perch, get it, but not this version - get the one without the scratching pad. Save the money."..."  Read more

This scratching post/ cat gym is perfect for my 2 Bengal kittens. They are high energy, smart and inquisitive....and they love it! They climbed into the box before I even got it out for them! They sleep in the cradle at the top (yes both of them) and they play hide and seek in the face part and jump all over the rest of it. They also chew on the whiskers which are really durable plastic and safe even for kittens. The sisal post is perfect for their scratching needs too. The gym arrived [...]assembled in a large box. FYI: It is very heavy so you may need 2 people to move it around. I was very impressed how solid the gym is and also it is very well made. The cat face on the front really doesn't go with the decor of my house but I like that I was able to pick out the color of the carpet and base post. Our cat took to the post and the bed right away. I really like the tall post which is a great size for our grown male cat. The circular bed on top is large and roomy enough for our cat to stretch out if he wants to. This item is pretty heavy so any worries you may have about the cat tree toppling over will not exist.
