CalPak Lotus Adventure Diplomat Single-Pole Detachable Rolling Backpack
Great bag for traveling!

This bag is the best for traveling if you do not want to check your luggage! Roll it around the airport with both bags zipped together, but once you walk down that skywalk to find your seat on the airplane, unzip the two bags and one fits perfectly under your seat while the other is a cinch to throw up in the overhead bin. Plus, once you arrive at your destination, the smaller, outer backpack is a great way to walk around on your vacation and carry purchases or extras that would usually be cumbersome. I definitely recommend this bag!
two packs in one.

I purchased this bag for a couple of reasons. I wanted to have a bag that I could use for trips, or I could fill with emergency items in case I ever had to quickly leave my home in a storm or fire. (I have a friend in Japan who advised me about her emergency bag.) I had wanted something that was versatile and had wheels as well as shoulder straps. This backpack has tons of room and is actually two packs in one. The front end of the backpack zips off to make two bags. There are straps on the back of the separated bags so two people could actually wear this pack at the same time. I can pack it heavy and either share the load with someone else, or roll the pack behind me. There are side pockets for additional items of storage. The bag appears to be made well although it has not yet been fully tested at the airport carousel! I am pleased with the overall design and I am amazed how much the pack can hold.
Excellent Pack. Outstanding Price!

The Lotus Diplomat fits the bill and more! I am very pleased now that I see it in front of me. I wanted a high visibility roller with a detachable day pack for international travelling. I wanted a roller that holds lots but is compact enough to be cabin baggage for frequent domestic flights. Although my backpacking days are over, I wanted a bag that was super-tough enough to endure baggage handling all over the world. I would prefer the double-pole handle. The single pole makes it difficult to attach another bag on top when walking up to the check-in or away from the baggage carousel. But all the other advantages strongly outweighed the single-pole disadvantage. Wayfair had this bag for $30 less than the nearest sale price online. Very nice. [...]
