Negatives.The quality is good but I expected better. There are two cracks in the wood on the lower portion of the top piece, [...] This would lead me to believe that when it was packed at the factory the cracks were there and not seen or corrected. Fortunately they do not affect the strength of the piece and are only seen when you bend down to clean the unit, but still they should not be there.The lower drawer does not close flush with the others and sticks out about an eight of an inch. Relatively minor, but it's things like this which seperate high quality from average quality.The lining for the drawers could have been much more plush and attractive. Such silverware chests are not only used to store flatware, but also to show off the flatware when company arrives. I can live with the first two cons mentioned, but I really wish it had more attractive drawer lining. Pros.The chest has a very nice and evenly applied finish. Our sample was also much darker than pictured on the website, which is good for us because it better matches our dining room set. Although I believe it suffers from some quality control issues it is an attractive looking piece of furnitue which also serves a purpose of holding the flatware. The shelf on the bottom and the little railing on the top are nice touches.
