The interior is lighted with two glass shelves behind attractive grill hutch doors. I could not find what I wanted from retail in my area so I decided to try....wonderful experience. The secretary is just what I wanted. It is actually made very well and looks great in the room. It is almost a mahogany color. The glass needed cleaning which I did but ended up scratching it. I would advise doing what I did with the second door glass. The glass on one door was not clear like the other one. And the veneer was popped up in a small area. We glued it but it didn't stick well. Not too noticeable.
