I love this bunk bed for the most part. I purchased it for my 4 yr. old and 1 1/2yr. old. The younger one is still in a crib, but transitioning into the bunk bed. He will be using the lower bunk. I love how sturdy it is, doesn't wobble, it is thick, has a beautiful finish. I had looked at others since we are on a very tight budget and decided to take a risk and purchase this one. I am glad I did. Given the price I think it is a steal compared to other places for around this price range for the quality you receive. Now for the cons, they're not all that big, since I would still purchase this set in a heartbeat. For starters, I don't like the wide gaps on the bottom frame of both bunks. The part that would support the mattress. I wish they were either wider pieces of wood, or more pieces. I'm still kinda skeptical with these kids as to how it will hold up. Also, given that this bunk bed is more for younger children, they get into everything, literally. I love that this bed has a beautiful finish, but for both bunks, the pieces of wood that hold the mattress, they are not even sanded, so you must be careful of splinters. Why leave everything else nice, but that. Also, it would be nice to have clearer instructions, as it took us a while to figure it out. Definantly separate all your screws before starting. It caused a hole on our top bunk for using a screw that looked nearly identical to the one that should have been used. They should come separated and labeled according to where they will be used. Also, I didn't really like the fact that on the top bunk they have some stickers that are warning/reference labels that should not be removed. It makes the bed look ugly. But my oldest son got into it, ripped a huge part off, and now looks uglier. But with small children and them being boys I don't expect much. I rather their safety above all, and I definantly feel it with this particular bunk bed set. I would like to have had more security securing the ladder, but we'll see what we can do. It attaches with two very small screws. We are missing one so we will try to go down to the hardware store to replace it. But above all, I still would recommend it. I just wish the manufacturer could make some minor improvements. P.S. There are solid rods that hold the bunks together. They are rather short, so be careful. If your kids are strong enough, they could keep trying to lift the top bunk from the bottom. It would be nice to be able to secure it better or for it to have larger rods in place making it more difficult for them to move it."..."  Read more

This is a beautiful bed. We waited a long time for it, now that it has finally arrived,it was worth it. It is larger than I expected it to be, even though we took measuremnets but I dont care. My girls love their new bed. The shelves under the top bunk go all the way behind the stairs for more storage. Even under the bottom bunk can be used for storage. My little one loves to hide under there for now. This bed is great for toddlers because the stairs are safe enough to go up and down on them without getting hurt as with a ladder. Another great feature is that the bottom bunk has wheels on the head board to make it easy to move the bed for cleaning. There was mentioning in another review about the lower bed developing a cavity in the mattress due to lack of support. I didnt care, I figured when we got our set we will figure out a way to better support the mattress for the bottom bed. We didnt even have to worry about that it had already been corrected with more support beams added."..."  Read more

i researched bunk beds to death. my husband and i are both tall and our kids are showing signs of following suit--- so, we wanted a bed that gave lots of head space between the two bunks, while still be reasonably priced and contemporary in its look. we also wanted a bed that would look good as two separate beds, if the kids hated bunking, and these look great side by side (watch out, some bunks are different heights when side by side, these are the same height). we bought a $149 4" foam mattress from [...] for the top, and used a comfy pillow-top 9" we already owned on the bottom. Perfect. the bottom bed feels very sturdy. and the kids know that anything other than sitting or crawling around quietly on the top is out of the question (i fear for the strength of the slats). the only down side--which we predicted--is that the wood is soft, denting easily, but that's pine for you. Best of luck! Remember, this comes only with the ladder---the side stairs/drawers are extra $. we were tempted by the side stairs thinking they'd be safer for our 5 and 3 y.o., but decided to save the $$ and were glad we did--- our 5 year old is sleeping in the top bunk and mastered the midnight climb down in the dark, to make it to the bathroom, on the first night.kd"..."  Read more

This loft bed set is neither too large nor too small, with a bit of room to grow. Our daughter's room is tiny, and this unit provides much needed space. She creates adventures and micro-environments for toys using the many different storage locales within her new "fort-bed". I think she lived in it for the first three days after it was assembled, she was so enamored of it. Kids will absolutely enjoy the additional storage and uniqueness of this type of loft bed. The area under the bed has become the favorite hang-out for play and TV viewing (through the shelving unit).Assembly was easy but very time consuming,[...]. This is not a single afternoon job for the handy-man, rather an entire day for two. It's very heavy, so two people are required to align the bed unit onto the support casings. Now for the not-so-great: Two weeks after assembly, the off-gassing began, burning our daughter's throat. During the good-weather days we'd open the house to try to air it out, but it keeps releasing its irritating fumes. For now we're using an ionic air filter to conteract the fine whitish particulates that have appeared in her room. We're over three weeks into this and hope it stops soon. Our standard computer hangs over the edge of the desk and seems to be holding fine. We're a bit leery because this laminated engineered wood doesn't look as though it will last, but it's not sagging yet.The laminate scratches relatively easily. If you have rough & tumble kids, don't expect a pretty hand-me-down."..."  Read more
