We decided to have our 3 and 4 year old sons share a room. Our oldest wanted a bunk so bad, but I was a little concerned. We got this bunk because it had a staircase rather than a ladder and it's solid wood. The delivery was prompt, the bed was fairly easy to assemble. We purchased a 7 3/4 inche foam mattress for the top, which allowed for a safe railing. The bootom bunk has a bookshelf, which we use to keep our books for our nightly routine. We have the full bed at the bottom so I can lay down with both of my boys, read stories, then my oldest will climb in his bunk. The boys have been sleeping better than ever and have added 45 minutes to an hour to their morning sleep! LOVE this bed."..."  Read more

We love this bed with the extension because of the XL length (we're tall so we expect our son to be tall and we like this). The construction is solid wood and good quality. The setup was easy enough for my hubby and my toddlers first words when he saw the bed the next morning was "Woo!". The white colour with navy blue/plaid/red bedding looks phenomenal so white does not have to mean 'girly'. Overall we love the bed and it fits well in a tiny, city room. Pitfall - it is clear they mass produce every bed frame in the exact same configuration/sizes so what this meant is that there are unnecessary rail slots on the lower bunk even though it didn't need those slots. I'm big on esthetics so when I see unncessary holes in wood it disappoints me. One notable point - being twin xl and double xl frames means you need special mattress/bedding. Now this was not hard to find or expensive but one trick I learned - a double xl fitted sheet can be swapped with a queen set. So instead of buying double xl, just buy queen size. So far the bed has been good. Bought it for my boys and it is holding up. Not an adult bed, though. Yes, it was a pain to put it together. Believe me and everyone else in these comments. The instructions are not the best and pieces were not marked. Many look the same but they are not. It was frustrating for a while, but with patience I persevered. I am not the most handy guy and I did it even with unclear instructions. So it is not impossible if you can imagine what it is supposed to look like. Just be prepared. We've had the bed for about 6 months now. It was easy to put together with the help of an electric-screwdriver. Honestly, I would not recommend trying to put it together any other way. The bed is a huge hit with my Granddaughter, who is 7. She goes to bed without issue every night and uses the bottom area as her "library". The only problem we have is making it. Its a very tight fit between the mattress and rails. You have to lift the mattress every time you make it. Its too bad really because other than that, its really a great bed."..."  Read more
