I purchased this product for its versatility. I wanted to use the roller bag when traveling for business trips, and to use just the carry briefcase for everyday office use. It does simply zip on and off. I am disappointed in the quality of the leather. I expected for the cost of this product for it to be soft and supple. It is quite hard, and seems that it might show scratches easily. Note it has not scratched yet, but I've only been using for about 2 weeks thus far. The primary interior pocket is great. Plenty of room for my big laptop, and one other section to hold papers, cell phone, etc... I wish there was a larger exterior pocket on the front, to hold cell phone, airline tickets, etc... When it was time to update my daily laptop and business bag, I went online and looked at hundreds of options. As a published author in my 40s, I don't want to look like a college student who just rolled out of bed, nor a banker or lawyer rushing to a board meeting. I might be interviewing a Fortune 500 CEO in the morning and an entry level production worker after lunch. So I need a bag that is 1) professional and stylish to reflect my creative field 2) big enough to handle a 15" laptop, cord, tape recorder, a few books and some file folders, but not too bulky 3) not too heavy for lugging through airports and shoving under plane seats 4) durable for the long haul and 5) ideally between $150 and $250.I eventually eliminated all leather (too heavy), messenger bags (a little too casual for my taste), "overnighter" bags (too bulky) and all nylon (too "bike messenger"). This Aaron Irvin bag is the perfect blend of everything I wanted: 1) style: the combination of ribbed nylon and black leather at the corners is really sharp 2) function: it has all the right pockets in all the right places 3) durability: the nickel-plated Swiss zippers are SWEET with a nice little heft to the hardware.I saw nice bags at $300 and $400, but that just seems like too much. Likewise, I read a lot of reviews of cheaper bags ($60-$120) that ripped apart fairly quickly. This is a fantastic briefcase. I got it in red and it is really beautiful. I am a marketing professional in an industry which is mostly men, so I wanted something that made an individual, feminine statement without going too far - this red is perfect. Its a dark lipstick color, a very classy color that stands out just a little more than a black. Its also a durable color that doesn't show scuffs which is important since I travel occassionally and also commute every day into downtown Chicago. It is a little smaller then some other briefcases that I have had, but I find that I don't miss the extra bulk anymore since it has helped me to be more judicious about really needing to take that extra file home! I have had it for 3 months now and it is quite efficient and everything still looks like the day I got it. This item is of excellent size for every day business and for travel ventures. The material is durable and there are many convenient pockets. My intent for purchase was to have a bag large enough to carry the little extras on board a plane. There are large pockets on the outside for easy access.
