Briefcases

I'm an attorney and use this bag for paperwork, computer, and files. The top opens nicely and stays open. The leather is high quality and has a scratch-resistant finish. Unlike some other bags, this bag will not "break-in" the same & won't take on a very distinct "character." This is due to the way the leather is made. If you like a clean look, this is a good bag for you. But if you want a bag that will develop character and look worn-in, I would recommend the Jack Georges Belting brief bag. Note that if you have the additional strap, Jack Georges will add a piece of leather on the side with a metal loop. In my opinion, this detracts from the bag's clean look. I deliberated awhile about the strap and concluded that, even fully loaded and heavy, the bag is still manageable for medium travel distances, such as from the car to office or from walks around the city. But if you are an extensive traveler, you may want the shoulder strap. I just think the bag is too nice looking to have a shoulder strap, personally, and deal with my arm getting tired when I carry it longer distances. The hardware is high-quality nickel. The front strap opens and closes in a sturdy fashion and with ease. The nylon liner is also nice and helps keep the weight down (as opposed to suede). The bag is spacious and will carry all the important stuff. Like I said before, the bag opens widely and stays open. The leather is stiff and gives it a very secure, stable feel. The bag is slightly bigger than it appears in the pictures. Jack Georges website has a picture of someone holding the bag, which gives you a better idea of its size and shape. The bag also does not curve as much on the sides as it appears to in the picture. It has a very nice shape. I gave four stars not because there's something I didn't like about the bag, but rather because I'm sure there're nicer bags out there if you want to spend $1,000+. I have had many compliments on my beautiful red briefcase. The fact that I don't have to carry a heavy paper filled briefcase is such a relief! This is an expensive item and friends at work although envious of my "bag" and wanting their own, did go and buy briefcases on wheels but they got inexpensive items. We will see over the next few years whose briefcase on wheels will last! My only problem with it was that the zipper in two different places has gone "Off Track" and by backing it up I was able to get the zippers back "On Track". I love the space and sections in the bag, and use every inch of it! I'm very pleased with my briefcase on wheels! I don't have a laptop so I removed that pouch and have more room for papers. I purchased this for my husband as he travels extensively for work as well as studying for his CFA. He has used it now on several trips and has commented that the size is perfect for laptop and study books as well as work documents. The hardware is very durable and forecasts that it will last a long time. The look and appeal are excellent; his boss noticed it and was impressed. And, he loves the top and bottom zippers on the back, which can either be used as an extra compartment for papers or as a means to secure it on top of a carry-on (or any other piece of luggage) by opening the zippers and sliding it over the luggage handle, when travelling. He has commented several times how much he loves this bag! The only complaint is that it was shipped to Canada from the U.S. and was held longer than expected at customs.... so if this is for a special occasion, give it a good month just to be sure!"..."  Read more

The briefcase is used to carry books and my computer. There is more than enough room even with my large books.When my briefcase is full is nice to be able to use a strap on the shoulder.I was looking for a briefcase with 3 compartmens and looked many places until I found this one. Overall I am more than satisfied and find nothing wrong with the briefcase. I certainly would order the same one again. My only complaint is I indicated I wanted my initials on the briefcase and someone dropped the ball. It came in with none. To me that was an important feature.
