Bookcases

It seemed like earlier this summer, there were lots of Wayfair giveaways floating around the blogosphere. My mother had been talking about how I desperately needed more shelf space, so I entered, knowing victory was unlikely, but persevering nonetheless. I finally one won from [...] (to whom I am now eternally grateful) and was quick to purchase myself a bookshelf. [...] At any rate, I live in a two house situation and spend much more time in one house than another. I've assembled this bookshelf in the house where I spend less time and moved some of my books there. I try and put books I've already read there, or books that look like good weekend/holiday reads as that's when I'm often there, but at the end of the day I kind of decided what to put over there arbitrarily. Sometimes I get frustrated because a book I want and I are not in the same place, but in retrospect that is a white whine and I could have much worse problems, as frustrating as that one can be. Assembling the bookshelf wasn't too challenging of task. Once I unpacked all of the pieces, spread them all out and took a good look at the directions it was pretty straightforward. All you need to put this together is a hammer, a flat head screwdriver and Philips head screw driver, so it doesn't require complex tools. I probably could have done this all by myself, but there were a couple of points where I made my mother come hold things in place while I hammered and screwed, just because it was easier. You'll notice that there are three long, slim boards which are part of the bookshelf, running just under the top shelf and along the sides. Those were a pain to get in place! I wound up covering them with a dishtowel and hammering that way so I could get them into place without damaging the wood.Once I got the bookshelf up it proved to be amazingly sturdy. I was a little concerned that this one might be too small for my tastes, and while I still dream about having my very own Beauty and the Beast library, this bookshelf is not only spacious but the perfect size for the room where I've put it. I really enjoyed organizing all of the books I put it on it and deciding exactly where they should go. Overall, I love this shelf. This bookshelf was exactly what I was looking for. I chose the textured black finish to mitigate the industrial smooth steel look in order to reduce their impact on the room. I am very happy with that decision. These bookcases are well-built and very sturdy and a great lower cost alternative to wood bookcases. For me the main problem with wood bookcases is their tendency for the shelves to warp and bow when fully loaded with large books. With these bookcases I don't have that problem and I am able to fully load the shelves with anything I desire without concern of warping or bowing. If you're looking for flexible, sturdy, and well-built bookcases for an area where color takes precedent rather than woodgrain this is an excellent alternative."..."  Read more

i ordered two of these and four of the wider cases to line a wall in my entertainment room, creating a reading nook. The bookcases are great in that they fit snug against the wall due to the side panel cut outs that allow them to fit around the molding. The cases also hold securely onto each other thanks to material provided (i think metal snaps--not sure b/c i didn't install them). There are ample supplies like screws, pegs, etc. Shelves went in easily. I like this set of bookcases better than another set i have that i had bought from a big blue and yellow store. And the price was better. Costumer service was unbelievable, which is the only reason i'm writing a review. I'd buy from Wayfair again. 4 stars because you can see holes in cases where shelves aren't used, which can't be prevented, as they are adjustable bookshelves."..."  Read more

First with the pros. It's fantastic! I was looking for something that wasn't BIG, like my other bookshelf, because, well, Randy (my big bookshelf) can get jealous, and also I didn't want another big bookshelf towering over me. So I picked this nice medium sized bookshelf for [$]. It's got 3 shelves, and it's dimensions are 42" H x 25.25" W x 11.25" D. Almost all of my books fit in there, which actually surprised me because I had a lot of books in my floor! I played Tetris with my books, got creative, and made it work (as you can see in the picture above). Also if you are in a dorm this would be a great fit for you, believe me I am in college too and this bookshelf did wonders.Other than picking all my books from the floor, this shelf is great because it looks great. It's an open concept, no black panel in the back to make it look all depressing, but rather it has something in the back that keeps the books from falling. Also this shelf is sort of like my DVD Shelf because it has this openings on the side, which I'm glad about because now it looks like I have a theme of sorts xDAnd finally the shelf doesn't wiggle! At all! And it's so easy to put together. I needed it to be easy to put together because, well, I'm not that good with stuff like this and if it was harder it would be pain in the butt.
