Bookcases

High end, short wall bookcases to go with upscale furniture are hard to find. This one can also be an attractive TV stand. So from the picture and description we felt confident to go with these. There are actually three cases that fit together almost seamlessly to make one extended bookcase. We ordered this for our library and are very pleased. Only disappointment was that two bookcases were manufactured incorrectly. If the manufacturer had tried to install the shelves it would have been apparent that two of the sides-- which are predrilled for movable shelving options--were not properly aligned. The sides were likely installed upside down on each bookcase resulting in shelves that could not be made level. Since we weren't going to ship them back, the fix was to carefully measure and drill new holes for the shelving pegs without drilling all the way through the sides of the bookcases. Since we only wanted the shelves in one fixed elevation to match the correctly-made bookcase, just eight holes had to be redrilled. But this was a minor inconvenience considering how beautiful they are and otherwise well constructed. In order to "tidy up" our guest bedroom we purchased this bookshelf and put our precious family pictures (which had been scattered around the guest room) on the shelves. Now the room looks much neater and in addition, everyone who sees the bookshelf in the corner remarks how nice it looks. This is a GORGEOUS bookshelf. The lights are a nice touch and it makes a statement in my living room. Two reasons I did not give this a 5: 1) the lights have a gold rim and casing (which I'm sure are easily replaced) and 2) it would be better if it had a switch for the lights. I was prepared that it is not white, white. It would look slightly better in my room if it were because I have white trim.
