Bookcases

This bookshelf was exactly what I was looking for. I chose the textured black finish to mitigate the industrial smooth steel look in order to reduce their impact on the room. I am very happy with that decision. These bookcases are well-built and very sturdy and a great lower cost alternative to wood bookcases. For me the main problem with wood bookcases is their tendency for the shelves to warp and bow when fully loaded with large books. With these bookcases I don't have that problem and I am able to fully load the shelves with anything I desire without concern of warping or bowing. In order to "tidy up" our guest bedroom we purchased this bookshelf and put our precious family pictures (which had been scattered around the guest room) on the shelves. The assembly isnt difficult, but make sure to grab the shelf boards with the pre-drilled holes for the top, bottom, and center shelves. Theyre not marked or differentiated in any other way, the assembly doc doesnt point this out, and because its particle board its not that obvious. It also helps to have someone hold the boards while you screw in the top, center, and bottom shelves (the rest is a one-man job). Assembly takes about 30 minutes, less if youre used to doing this sort of thing. The bookshelf looks nice and feels solid--it was heavier than I expected (thats a good thing).
