The bookshelf is fairly heavy and looks nice. Obviously its a fake wood finish but it still looks good. There are a few things to watch for when you unbox the bookcase. First, its pretty heavy so you either want someone to help you slide it out or if youre alone, cut the side of the box off. The packing is done very well. Once you get the pieces out and manual in hand make sure you carefully look at which of the small pieces are which. I achieved this by counting them because the illustrations are not great. I then layer them on the floor with their corresponding numbers from the manual. This helped speed up the process a lot. Mkae sure you have a large carpeted area to work in because you will assemble the bookcase on the ground and tilt it up when finished. Follow the instructions and you should be done in 30 mins or so. The only downside of this product were the finishing caps to hide the screws. Not all of them are flush with the surface and it kind of bugged me. I read the reviews before purchasing. One issue others were having was that they felt this product was 'wobbly' and not as sturdy as it should be. So I was aware that there could be issues I would need to resolve, but It was EXACTLY what I was looking for and I'm very skilled at flat-pack furniture assembly, so I bought it anyway. I'm using it the long way and not the tall way, so that may have something to do with it, but I like that it can be used either way! Here are the issues I found: 1.) All the shelves are held into the sides by wooden pegs only. And no glue is provided or even recommended. USE GLUE. 2.) Back board is in 3 separate pieces. It does not line up correctly and SHOULD be in two pieces. Bad design call (oh well) but it doesn't effect the purpose. 3.) Poor directions and pieces are not marked - not a lot of pieces so you can figure it out. OVERALL: good quality of light weight board. Looks good.
