Blocks

After receiving a gift card for Wayfairs, I decided to get a Mega Blocks set for my girls. They already have a Mega Blocks set; and they love it. But this isn't just any ordinary Mega Blocks set.. It's a MINI Mega Blocks set. Each container comes with 40 pieces and a sheet of stickers. You can use the stickers to place on the blocks to make faces, and you can even make a little girl. Both of my girls really love this part of the set. I put it together as soon as I got it, and Sabrina was so excited. All of the blocks are made out of plastic. All of the blocks are 'girl' themed; pink, light blue, purple, and white colored blocks. These blocks are suggested for children 3 years and up. I think this would be a great 'on the go' toy, or maybe I should say 'travel' toy.. They come in a small container so it would be easy to keep in your car instead of packed away in the trunk or suit case. Smaller blocks make it easier and faster to pick up so clean up time is less. My grandaughter loved to build towers and castles - over and over and over. This set was the perfect next step after the basic square/cube building blocks. At first, she was most thrilled with the "little people" and the trees because she could put them on the "stairs" she built. She is learning so much by trying to make "windows" and "doors" with these blocks. This set is fun for both of us to play together...and for several years to come."..."  Read more

The first thing I noticed is that the game comes in a nice sturdy cardboard box. It comes with 20 cards and I was pleased to see that they come in varying levels of difficulty. There are 3 levels, patterns where one block fills each space, patterns where several blocks fill the spaces, and patterns that have no colors as a guide. I really thought this was great because it made the game adaptable to my children's ages (2-10). My 2 year old has gotten the most use out of this game (although it is a big hit with my 6, 7, and 10 year olds as well). I love that this game teaches so much! Shapes, colors, patterns, geometry! Over all I think this is a great game. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. My only complaints are; some of the cards are larger than the others and do not fit inside the work tray, and unless you are working on the white cards (that take less pieces) it is impossible for more than one child to play this at a time. I ordered these with a voucher from the Wayfairs preferred blogger program, and they're exactly what I was hoping for -- brightly colored, nice-quality blocks that my son will get a lot of use out of once he's old enough. They are recommended for children ages 3 and up, and that seems to be accurate based on the small size of some of the blocks. We've put our set away until our son gets a bit bigger, but can't wait for him to try them out!"..."  Read more
