Unlike other available products, these hollow blocks are full-sized, meaning the shortest dimension corresponds to the length of a standard unit block. The blocks are sanded down to eliminate any sharp edges/corners, and are finished with a polish that didn't seem to emit any obvious odors. They look beautiful but of course they'll take a beating if the kids really use them. The wood screws are recessed and this seems to be done well for the most part. In any case, each plank seems to be made of quality hardwood in a multi-ply construction. I only wish they didn't prominently stamp their company logo (1" x 2") on every single piece. The product was reasonably snug in a dual thickness cardboard box. However, don't expect any fancy padding or tissue wrap inside. Arrived fast and just fine.
