I have two small dogs (under 12 pounds each) and there is ample room in the cabin for both dogs and groceries! I might have been able to go down a size to the mini, but I really like the standard additions on the Novel. Beware that the manufacturer/designer has made changes to the Novel not represented in the photos or advertising copy or even the manual. The kick stand is no longer standard. Also, I bought the stroller conversion, but the Novel no longer has the clamp or whatever to hold the stroller wheel while using it as a bike trailer. I need to be able to ride my bike with the dogs and then convert the unit into a stroller so I can go into stores with them. I was unhappy to find that standard option gone with the 2011 model. So, please call to see if the unit is what you see on their website. The trailer is well made and well designed. It rides smoothly. The dogs wear harnesses that are then attached to the upper portion of the cabin, keeping them INSIDE the trailer at all times. I don't have to worry about them jumping out. I would buy this unit again. It is great fun and great exercise, and the dogs love it!"..." Read more

I use this carrier for my two 15 lb. terriers and they just LOVE IT!!! They have plenty of room and can't wait to go for bike rides. I was really impressed with the quality of the mesh windows, as one of my dogs has been known to tear the mesh in other carriers/crates. My only two complaints are that the top support arm, the bar that holds the two sides open, has collapsed once due to the locking pin coming unlocked (thank God the dogs were not in the carrier) and the trailer arm sometimes scrapes the pavement if I make a sharp left turn. After owning the trailer for a few months I wish I would have ordered the lighter version because hauling seventy extra pounds of carrier and dog combined up a steep hill can be a little taxing after a long ride."..." We loved using this trailer while camping at the beach. We used it first as a travel crate, which helped our dog get accustomed to it. I did have to buy a pad for the bottom, but found a very inexpensive one at a local pet supply that was perfect, and it kept him from sliding around while he rode. Once at our campsite, our dog used it as a cozy place to get up off the ground. When it was time to use it as a trailer, the wheels attached easily, and the tow bar also clipped on in seconds. The ride was level and stable, and it pulled easily on asphalt and gravel. We took it out on the beach, and it pulled fairly well there, too, considering how out of shape I am! I really loved the generously sized gear pocket and water bottle holder. We were able to store his collapsible water bowl, leash, treats, and a small towel in there. Our dog is a dachshund, and there is no way his stumpy little legs could run alongside. It was really nice having a safe, comfortable way for him to explore with us instead of locking him in our camper. I highly recommend this fun, versatile product!"..." Read more

Trailer as described and super easy installation. Highly recommended.
I had no problems rolling over a hard-packed dirt road.
I can't knock any stars because of the above review, but this trailer would be stellar if it had some sort of suspension for the rougher roads.
