Bedroom Sets

4 out of 5 stars because of cheap particle board. I assumed this bedroom set wouldn't be high quality materials, and I was correct. All wooden components appear to be particle board, but the construction is still sturdy. All drawers glide in/out smoothly. The look of the furniture alone is worth the price. It looks very elegant, and the faux granite looks surprisingly real. We were simply looking for a matching set of furniture and not the top-of-the-line hardwood, so this set fit our needs perfectly. The only negative comment I have about the look is the molding around the bottom of the nightstand, dresser, and chest. The corners of the molding were not cut to match one another like would be expected. The corners are the only thing that make the exterior of this furniture look cheap. However, this is not a glaring flaw, and I only noticed because I checked every square inch to verify no damage was caused during shipment. Assembly basically only included installing the handles for the drawers and attaching the mirror to the dresser. The assembly for the bed frame was a little tedious (approximately 19 screws), but the construction is great. I expected to see old-school style rails and expected to need wooden slats. However, traditional rails do not exist on this frame, and three left-to-right metal slats provide support for the foundation. Each metal slat has a "leg" that attaches to the center of each one. This provides a total of 7 contacts with the floor including the contact at each corner. The only negative thing I've seen with the bed is that is sits relatively low. The foundation is only about 5" off of the floor. The nightstand is 26" tall, and the model bed in the photos still sits about 2-3" inches below the nightstand. I have a 10" memory foam mattress sitting on a Tempur-Pedic foundation, and my bed appears to sit about 1" lower than the model in the photos. Wasn't a problem for me in the end, but it was still a surprise that the overall height was so low. Overall, this was a great purchase. Factor in the 10% discount that I was able to apply and this would definitely have to be considered a bargain. I AM RATING IT A 5 AS I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT IT DOES APPEAR TO BE MADE OF SOME REAL WOOD. WE PURCHASED A DIFFERENT BED AS WELL, AND IT WAS HORRIBLE. THIS BED LOOKS JUST AS PICTURED, AND IS NICE. I HAVE SEEN THE SAME BED AT OTHER FURNITURE STORES, AND YOU MAY EVEN BE ABLE TO GET IT A BIT CHEAPER IF YOU LOOK AROUND. We bought the bed because we liked it's design. First the bad: -Unfortunately it is a little too long for our room compared to our old bed. -Another disappointment were the drawer handles which in the picture looked metal, in actuality being just plastic colored as metal. -The bed edges can become a hazard (hitting you foot or baby hitting their head) - Assembly is very time consuming. I wouldn't say it takes a scientist, but it takes a lot of time. My previous bed I was able to take apart in 5 minutes, this requires at least 30-40 minutes. Not recommended if you plan to move a lot. Good: -nice design -solid build -at this point the bed is sturdy, and it makes no noise when "moving" on top of it (if you know what i mean - good for family with children) Be careful, the bed has slats (some foam mattresses are not recommended for slats), and I didn't know when I purchased it. This bedroom set is excellent. I bought it about 2 months ago, setup was easy, and--this is the most important part--It's made out of real hardwood!
