I hesitated to purchase the Newport Platform bedroom set for [$] sight unseen, since it would be a major hassle if I'd hated it! But after reading 20+ positive reviews & comparing furniture store prices with online prices, I took the plunge & ordered the platform bed, 2-drawer bedside table, and the 5-drawer dresser, and couldn't be happier with my selection. The workmanship is excellent, everything works flawlessly and I've found no imperfections. The dresser & bedside table comes with both pewter/silver & red knobs for the drawers so you can switch them out according to your color scheme. I'm ordering the 1-drawer end table to complete the set since I like this furniture so much. The wood is made of tropical mahogany and has a rich, lustrous appearance, & a reddish hue that doesn't show up too well online. My friends & family are all envious of my new bedroom furniture. I've had the bedroom set over a month now and have had no negative issues. I'm an 18 year old female from California that recently moved here in Texas so I was really looking for a new beautiful bedroom set. I bought the platform, headboard, and nightstand. It took me about around 8 hours to build everything because I did it all by myself even though it says for each manual that you need about 2 people to build it. The step by step instructions will walk you through the whole thing in ease. As my very own opinion, if your bedroom is carpet and not wood floor, I suggest that you start building the platform on the side in which you will prefer to place it at. In the picture (as you can see), it's a wooden floor with a rug under the platform so it'll be easy to move but it's very hard to move on carpet. Moving and placing it was the only difficult part that I encountered. Alignment and screwing the platform was a bit frustrating because some screws didn't really line up well so you really have to be quite patient with this one. Couple small scratches on the bed platform but I covered it with a black marker or paint if you have them. Overall, it's a great set! (P.S. The mattress on the photo is a FULL SIZE which is the same as mine so if you have a Queen, it will not look like that.)"..."  Read more

The quality of this bedroom set is top notch, with a deep, dark reddish brown (more emphasis on the red than as seen in the pictures - it's definitely an auburn as opposed to "root beer finish"). The wood is rich and smooth, and the construction is solid and very well made.The styling of the design has echoes of contemporary Asian themes (which is what I wanted) and the brushed nickel hardware looks very nice in contrast with the deeper hues of the wood.[...] I purchased the bed frame, two leg nightstands (though one had a large crack in it and is currently being exchanged), the dresser, and mirror (which includes sturdy rails in the back which the movers drilled/screwed the mirror on to the dresser with).A wonderful bedroom set that would look great in a guest bedroom or master bedroom. After shopping for a platform bed with clean lines and reasonable price in a lot of local stores [...] we bought this bed. I have read most reviews on this bed before purchasing. We could not be much more happier with this purchase. The bed looks great in our master bedroom. Simple and elegant. Feels Sturdy.They have added height adjustment to the middle legs (that support the slats). They work well. The side table did not look like a perfect match.
