Good for the price, but.....
Learning To Fry from Portage, Mi.
Heavier gauge pot would be nice but for the price its ok. Problems come when oil seeps out 2 of the 4 rivits holding the pot handles to the pot when the fry begins. Not a major leak but definitely not something I want to see. I will keep the cover, basket, and thermometer but will replace pot with heavier gauge steel one or a cast iron one. Fish and Onion Rings came out good. French fries not so much.
Pot is a lightweight
Learning to Fry from Portage, Mi.
I used pot to fry some onion rings, fish, and fries. It's a 10 quart pot so I figured 4 quarts of oil would leave room for the boil up and it did a wonderful job on each dip. Some oil seeped out from the rivit's holding the handles during the first minute of each fry which was of some concern. I think I will keep using the basket and thermometer but keep my eye out for a heavier gauge pot of the same diameter or even a outdoor cast iron one.
Handles seeped hot oil
Learning to Fry from Portage, Mi – Verified Buyer
I fried some fish, french fries, and onion rings in 4 quarts of oil. The rivit seal on the handles let hot oil seep out on each initial drop of the basket. Not a lot, but enough to be of concern as even a little oil this close to the flame on the bottom of the pot is not a good thing. I like the basket and thermometer but I m looking for another more "leak proof" pot. [...]
