This is not designed to install in existing bathrooms - that is you can't do it all from below the ceiling. You need to get above the ceiling - in the attic - to mount the box. Also, you are supposed to have an air gap around the unit from the insullation, this requires a box or some method to hold the insulation away from the unit.
