Barstools

Like most people I bought one first to check it out, then bought three more. They are not that difficult to put together, but with allen wrenches everything takes a bit longer and power tools wouldn't work as well in this case anyway. They are larger than they appear - the cushion seems to be at least 16" in diameter, but I have not measured it. This extra size makes it feel oh-so-comfy. We bought these to be used at a breakfast bar opposite the kitchen island. When not in use they tuck neatly under the counter so don't really take up that much room. We had thought about getting stools with backs on them, but were glad we didn't since swiveling would cause the back to smash into the counter and we are the kind of people who really like to swivel. I am pretty sure it would be hard to beat these stools in the comfort category. Good height for average size people to just "slide on". The little footies are covered with a plastic coating so they won't scratch wood floors, but just in case we added some of those little sticky pads anyway. I love the stools, the seat cover is gorgeous and the swivel works great and my young teenage son easily put the together. [...] The only thing.... the stools are GIANT in diameter. I used to have four stools at my counter so I bought four of these and only three can fit comfortable. I am keeping the fourth to pull up on the other side of the counter as needed, but I really only should have purchased three stools to fit my space. We originally purchased eight of these stools for our recreation room two years ago, and have been pleased enough that now I'm ordering another. I like the fact that the stools are heavy (thus don't tip easily & stay in place unless we want to move them; and kids are less likely to move them around the room); they are very comfortable, with the padded seat & back; have been easy to clean when food has gotten on the fabric (note that ours are black); the foot rest lends itself to comfort in sitting on the stools; the swivel contributes to easier conversations within a group of people; and the adjustable height is nice for people of varying heights. Our guests really like them. One concern: The metal base would very likely quickly ruin our tiled floor where we use the stools. To solve this, I cut round pieces (same size as bottom of base) from an old rug; flipped the stools upside down; and glued the rug pieces to the base using Gorilla glue (woven side of rug facing floor, back side glued to chair).
