I needed some bar stools for my new island. I like the style of the Saddle Seat bar stools. The stools did come unsassembled, but that wasn't really a problem. The directions wer easy to understand and the bar stools were assembled in less than 30 minutes. I love the color and how nice they look with my island. I looked at a thousand stools. These barstools did not disappoint! They are exactly what I needed. We renovated our kitchen and I'm replacing our large Windsor bar stools with these little stools that slide under the counter, out of the way. The black color and turned legs match my dining room table and kitchen island legs perfectly. Someone came to buy our old bar stools and fell in love with our new ones! Everyone loves them. (One of my friends thinks they would make nice little side tables too.) They are perfectly comfortable. My husband knows his way around tools and put them together in 5 minutes. These bar stool are very attractive and very reasonably priced. They come unassembled, and I put them together myself (not my husband). All that was needed was the included Allen Wrench (although I used a ratchet from my husbands tool box which made it quicker). The screws to assemble these bar stool are large and sturdy, not cheap and flimsy. The parts fit together well. Once assembled they are quite sturdy. The finish is okay. Don't expect the wood to be oak. It's called an "oak finish", and it is rather orange. Also, you can see the places where the wood has been joined on the top of the seat. For this price item I think that is acceptable. I was surprised that the top of the bar stools has "grooves" to make them look more rustic. Those grooves do not show up in the pictures of the oak finished bar stool. Look at the ones with the dark walnut finish to see what I'm referring to. Backless stool makes our kitchen look so much bigger. They tuck right under the counter-height bar area. Comfort is fine for short-term but after awhile it starts to hurt the backside. We are all on the slender side. I can't imagine a larger person liking these stools. Foot bar should be lower for the counter height stools. My knees are bent so much they hit the wall.
