Barstools

My main objectives, when STARTING my bar stool search, were to find bar stool that matched my decor, had a clean/contemporary look, and didn't cost an arm and and leg.I went to a local barstool store and quickly discovered that most bar stools were uncomfortable. The cusions are very soft and provide no support at all. Sit on the stool for more than a few minutes and it feels like you are sitting on a bare wood barstool. The back supports are not angled correctly, forcing you to hunch or otherwise sit in an uncomfortable position. Most back supports are also the wrong hieght so they dig into your lower back when you lean back. The bar stools that are in the $100-$200 price range are really cheap. So, after spending about two hours testing bar stool, this New Rochelle barstool was the clear winner. The cusion is thick and supportive. The back is angled perfectly and is rounded so it kind of "hugs" you. The price is in the higher-mid range. Assembly of the bar stool war very simple, but it would have been nice if instructions were included.The only issues I have are: ALL bar stools are over-pricedThere were no assembly instructionsThe only reason that I don't give it a 5-star rating is because I wanted a more modern look and bar stool prices are too high - all bar stools, not just this one. We've had these stools about a month, with daily use at the kitchen island by kids and adults. They are wonderful, and we couldn't be happier! Ours are the dark cherry seats and black bases. What we like: - solid build, with thick wood, sturdy legs, and strong plastic floor guards. There's not a wobble in these babies! - quality wood and staining - they swivel, but not willy-nilly; the kids, therefore, aren't constantly spinning and wearing on them, but with a little push, anyone can swivel to get the seating "just right" - comfortable; we weren't sure how comfy wood seats would be with no padding, but these are quite comfortable for the kids, an average size woman, and a big guy - classy look with clean lines, no back to interfere with or bump into the countertop There's simply nothing we don't like! We had some question about the difference between this stool and the higher-priced Holland Misha stool. The Misha has more seating and color options, but after talking with Wayfair, we half expected that the difference was the swivel. This stool mentions warranty info for the swivel mechanim, but neither we nor the Wayfair were sure about that after trying to compare the two. So for the record, this stool *does* swivel 360*. The stools come fully assembled, ready to use right out of the box. All in all, these are classy, well-made stools we would buy again and heartily recommend."..."  Read more

I initially saw these chairs on an internet video as I was looking for design ideas for a very small condo that I recently purchased. I searched for over 3 months before finding these chairs online. I made my purchase (26" 4 bar stools & table) on 10/14/10 and have finally moved them into the condo (1/2/11). My husband and 2 sons (11&14) were able to put the stools together fairly quickly. My 14 y/o helped my husband with the 1st 2 stool and then he and his younger brother put the other 2 together. The stools fit perfectly under the table. The stools are way too short for my bar. I was hoping I could use for both areas. The 30" stools would have been too high for the table but would have worked for the bar. I purchased to the table as a space saver so we could have somewhere to play our board games on and to put neatly away (under the bar) when not in use. The stools seem that they may need to be dusted frequently as they needed to be wiped down after initially trying them due to shoe residue. The seat cushions look nice and are comfortable. I bought these after the 30 barstools I bought at Target fell apart under heavy use by my kids. I figured I had gotten exactly what Id paid for, so this time I decided to spend more on commercial grade stools that would (I hope) hold up for several years. I also wanted low backs that would not hit my counter, and I wanted them to swivel. These stools are very sturdy and were simple to assemble--just screwed the seat to the legs with a power drill and all 3 stools were done in 5 minutes. Shipping was also much quicker than the website predicted. They dont swivel easily, but after a few weeks of use they are loosening up a bit so I hope that continues. The seats are wide and nicely cushioned. Theyre very heavy, which is fine as my kids dont try to move them around as much as they did the old ones, which means less wear and tear on my wood floor. The feet are plastic and while they dont scratch the floor, they do drag and under the heavy weight of the stools will probably wear away at the floor over time, so I am on the hunt for some kind of protectors. The only major drawback is that it was very hard to tell what the finishes were really going to look like from the website, so they look different than I had hoped they would. The metal is darker and less shiny than I expected, and the seat vinyl has a basketweave design that I had not expected at all. Its a rather incongruous combination of a modern frame with an old-fashioned seat, but sending them back is not realistic so here they stay."..."  Read more
