fairly sturdy and to make it moreso I have my largest and heaviest plants on the lower shelves. Solid wood, a beautiful finish, and lovely styling make this an excellent product for the price. Was looking for something tall/narrow for storage & it works pretty well for it. There are very few this narrow & tall. Wished the shelf height was at least another 2 inches more. Would have been happier with 1 less shelf & more height between shelves. Was tricky to assemble by myself but I did it it. Easy to scuff surfaces while assembly--need to be careful. I really like this baker's rack, I'd like it to be just a little wider, but overall it's very nice. The only thing I do not like about it is the color of the wood-grain contact paper on the shelf, the description said Espresso, but it's way too red, it's more of a mahogany so it doesn't match my dining room furniture at all.
