PRICE/VALUE: I recommend checking out WayfairRugs if only to get a sense for prices on the market as you comparison shop. The price I paid for this rug purchased from Wayfair was competitive, [...]. Because braided rugs are reversible, you are in a sense getting two rugs for the price of one. I don't mind paying up front for a quality product that will give me years of good wear.SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW SMALL PEOPLE: To my knowledge, Colonial Mills rugs are American classics still made in the United States by an American company employing Americans and legal immigrants.COLORS: This particular Russet was on clearance sale, and I did worry a bit at first that it would be too drab. But the colors are a nice range of browns laced with taupe and a light gray. They blend well with the fireplace bricks and the painted wood floor in my apartment.MAINTENANCE: This 100% wool braided area rug can be rolled up easily and taken to the cleaners. You can have it moth-proofed by a reputable rug cleaner, or open the end of its plastic wrap after it has been cleaned and pour some mothballs down there if you plan to keep it in storage for the warm summer months. Keep the vacuum cleaner brushes on a higher setting so that you do not abrade the braids prematurely! Shifting this rug is easy in order to maintain the floor underneath it.VERSATILITY: If you rent as I do, you, too, probably are tired of inheriting other people's dirt, stains, and pet mess in ghastly wall-to-wall carpets. Because this is an area rug, you can take it with you when you move and move it around your home wherever and whenever you like.FIBER: I chose 100% wool to feel cozy in front of the fireplace when guests visit during cold, dreary winter weather. I wanted a neutral/solid-color area rug in my great room to replace an area rug that has a very bold, modern design. The image at the website gave me the impression that this rug had a tweed look to it. That impression was wrong. The fibers are one uniform color throughout. The variation shown in the image must be due to lighting when the photo was taken. Anyway, the rug is very thick with a very soft pile. I especially liked that the rug was available in a 6 x 9' format, a size not often available from rug manufacturers. The neutral color allows be to be more bold with pillows and other room accessories that were previously dominated by the bold design of the former rug. The rug arrived by FedEx within a week of my order and was tightly wrapped in two layers of plastic. Since this rug is made of synthetic materials, it will not be as expensive to have cleaned as my former 100% wool rug."..." Read more

I bought Safavieh wool rugs before, and I like this brand. They are thick and heavy, and the patterns are generally better in real life than on the screen. I bought this rug for the living room (9'6" by 13'6"). I was aware of the fact that it was very subdued and would not stand on its own, and I chose it to fit into the room design with the furniture and walls. When it arrived, I was pleased to find that the colours were not quite as "dirty" as in the pictures, and the pattern is actually quite pleasant and to look at (and distinct enough to see). It did everything I wanted it to, plus it looked nicer than I expected. My partner was not too keen on my choice initially, but upon the arrival, he was very impressed himself. I have got to say, when a guy keeps repeating how pleased he is with the rug looks and feel, I know he is not lying.
Quality: in my experience, Safavieh wool rugs shed fiber in the beginning. Be prepared to vacuum and dust often in the first month. After a month, the shedding subsides. I did not mind this, but if you are allergic or sensitive to wool, you may want to go with some other material. My son is somewhat sensitive, but with one quick daily vacuuming, it is quite manageable.
In long term, the quality of my other Safavieh rugs proved to be quite good. The only thing I can think of is that when I lift them up to vacuum underneath (which happens maybe 2-3 times a year), there is some white dust on the floor which seems to be coming from the rug. So far, this did not affect the integrity of the rugs in the least.
I would buy other Safavieh rugs in the future. I think they are extremely well priced with no impact to the quality. I am sure there are better rugs - but the price tag reflects their quality too.
Bonus: this very large rug was packed (not rolled up) compactly enough to fit into my small car. I was very pleased with this thoughtfulness."..." Read more

This is a beautiful rug in an amazing color. I needed a rug and didn't want to spend a ton of money but also didn't want a poor quality rug. The color is a dark, deep purple, eggplant/plum color. I was a little skeptical about purchasing this rug as the photo doesn't do the rug justice. I was afraid of getting a bright purple/royal purple rug. I wanted a more mature looking rug and this was perfect for my budget. There are two types of thread on this rug, one silky and the other a more matte and thick thread. The "ultra shag" shaw rug has a close up picture of what the rug really looks like, minus the coloring, which isn't true to the color of the rug. Feel nice with a rug pag underneath.
