We bought this product last fall and installed it in the spring. Wayfair had, by far, the best price for this popular arbor. However, there's a few things you may want to know if you're thinking ofWe bought this product last fall and installed it in the spring. Wayfair had, by far, the best price for this popular arbor. However, there's a few things you may want to know if you're thinking of purchasing this arbor:
Assembly was difficult and time-consuming. At first, we thought it'd be a breeze, since the directions seemed detailed, and the side panels went together with ease. Then, the problems began.... The top piece to the arbor did not have pre-drilled holes. We had to measure, pre-drill our own holes, and place the two top bars on the arbor, hoping it was even. Thanks to my husband, they were, but nonetheless, it was a difficult and time-consuming undertaking....especially if you're a novice.
Also a word to the wise: DON'T put the decorative caps on the arbor before you install it. The directions want you to glue on the caps before install, but the provided glue did not work well, and all the caps fell off when we tilted the arbor (per directions) to measure for installation.
In addition, the instructions indicate that you can replace the provided vinyl legs with a 2x4 when installing on in a concrete base. Nope. A 2x4 did not fit in the provided space.
Now that the arbor is up, it's beautiful. It seems sturdy from side to side, but not as much from back to front. I'm surprised, since it came with 64 screws! (charge that drill!!!) I have my finger's crossed that it will survive the Michigan winters and summer storms, because it really is a very nice addition to our yard!"..."Read more
