I looked high and low for diffused light for our home theater room that wasn't cheesy or commercial looking. The lamps are perfect for what I wanted, wall mounting adjacent a large headboard. We were able to pivot the bases so that the cords are hidden behind the headboard, thus appearing to be hardwired. My requirement for this purchase was the dimming feature, and it works nicely without any noise. Arms are extendable, and lamp head can pivot to either side as well as extend outward or retract inward. One of the lamps arrived with a broken bulb, but we opted to change that out ourselves rather than deal with a store exchange process. Other than the bulb, the lamps arrived in perfect condition, wrapped well and free from scratches or dents. I am very pleased.
