Bush Universal Flat Screen TV Swivel Mount

I bought this mount because the stand that came with my TV was so big it put the TV a foot and a half away from the wall. Sort of defeated the purpose of a thin TV. I have the Bush VS74962-03 stand and was afraid I'd have to replace it to get an attached vertical stand (I'm not a fan of wall mount). And I really, really, love that stand.Luckily, I started at the Bush site for research and saw that they made a vertical attachment for the two stands in that series. The fact that it swiveled was an added bonus. Looking around, Wayfair had the best price [...]The vertical attatchment was easy to mount to the stand - 4 bolts. I DID have to go to the hardware store to get longer bolts since it reuses the ones from the base stand. They were not long enough to reattach with the swivel mount. The original bolts were also 6mm x 1.25, but 1/4-20 bolts are a good fit.The mounting bolts for the TV were a perfect fit. Should be since Bush includes a whole bunch of different sizes and lengths to cover a wide range of TVs. Unfortunately, Panasonic put the mounting bolts WAY at the bottom of the TV instead of in the middle like you'd expect (and like Bush expected). The Bush swivel mount has a LOT of lattitude in mounting the brackets to the TV, but the Panasonic VT series exceeds even that. I was able to make the brackets fit by using a Dremel and file to extend one of the mounting holes about 1/2 inch. That also put the TV in the perfect spot. Once the brackets were on, the TV was easy to put on the swivel. Make sure you have a buddy to help so it will be easy to lift for centering. So, the issues that I had, I have to attribute to the odd way that Panasonic chose to put the mounting points on the VT series (too low). Knowing all of this, I would STILL purchase the same swivel mount and modify it for use. It only added about 30 minutes to the install and looks really, really great."..."  Read more

I ordered the mount to hold my new Samsung 60 inch plasma, which weighs about 150 pounds. I wanted to mount it over the fireplace in the niche that seems to be standard in most new homes these days. The TV has about 1.5 inch clearance on both sides and about 3 inches on top and bottom. So, the TV needed to be mounted exactly in the center of the opening. In addition, the niche is about 24 inches deep, so I had to get an articulating mount. I checked various websites and Wayfair had the best selection/price combination. The SmartMount mount was easy to install onto the wall, although the studs to which it was mounted were not centered on the niche opening. No problem, once the base was mounted to the studs the articulating arm plate slide left/right enough to center the arm on the niche opening. The mount uses six large lag bolts to mount into the wall studs and is rated for 200 lbs. I weigh 160 lbs and did several pull-ups on the mount before setting the TV in place. The mount is sturdy and did not flex much if at all. My only complaint is the mount hardware that attaches to the back of the flat screen. The bolts provided to attach the bracket to the TV were small and barely reached through the mount into the TV. With a 150 lb TV worth several thousand dollars riding on those six bolts, I decided to visit [...]and get longer hex head bolts. The bolts were an odd size but the helpful person at HD was able to track them down. The other issue is that the TV does not slide up/down enough. In other words, the mount does not allow enough travel for adjustments up/down. The mount is centered on the wall of the niche, but the mounting holes on the TV are off center a bit. I maxed out the travel allowed on the TV mounting bracket, but the bottom of the flat screen still sits on the bottom of the niche when the TV is tilted forward. Not a big deal and I should have compensated in my measurements for the off center TV mounting holes, but I think the bracket could have been larger. It took two of us (inexperienced at mounting flat screen TVs) approx. three hours from unpacking to setting the TV in place. It looks great, works well and I am very pleased."..."  Read more

I have a 52" Panasonic plasma. Having read user reviews of numerous mounts I knew this one would be the best choice. Everyone was right. The contractor that we used to redo the electricity and cabling in our wall has installed a lot of home theater systems, and about 6-8 different types of mounts. He pointed out a number of little advantages that this mount has over all of the others (that make it easier to install), and when we were done he was certain that it is the best mount he's seen. One of the important factors that we noticed is that the tolerance on the primary screw holes allow for some minor tweaks even once it has been installed, something that he hasn't seen on any of the other mounts. As for handling the weight of a 52" TV, this mount does it with ease. I had absolutely no doubt it could handle it and I attach the TV with confidence every time. I have had to remove the TV numerous time during work we're having done in that area and the removal and resetting of the TV could not be easier. Of course it requires two people (typically men as my wife refused to try considering the weight of the TV). Then there is the fact that this mount comes with a gazillion different sets of hardware for probably any TV form. The one issue that I must emphasize is that you MUST make sure you have the proper studs in the location that you want the TV. If you are needing to center the TV, verify the location of your studs vs how the mount is going to hang on the studs. You may not be able to center it as you'd like. I was lucky enough that we were already tearing up the walls for another reason so we attached some horizontal studs to the existing studs so we could align the mount anywhere we needed to horizontally and be certain we were hitting a stud. Once it was up I have to say I really appreciate the ability it offers for adjustments. We have ours mounted above our fireplace (which we never use) and we can move it all around as necessary. And it always stays exactly where we stop it. In short, I think it's got to be the perfect mount because I have nothing to complain about."..."  Read more

My Philips 32" LCD was 21½ inches tall, and I had 22½" above a closet door to fit it in my small bedroom. I spent about half a day measuring and calculating the exact spot to bore the holes for the rack. After installing the rack, I mounted the TV onto it, and it cleared the ceiling and the top of the door by a half inch each. BUT, after putting the TV at the proper angle and tightening all the set-screws etc., the TV was 1/4" too low and the top of the door hit it when opened, and there was about a 1" gap between the top of the TV and the ceiling. I took the whole thing down, plugged the holes that I had made, drilled new holes about a half inch higher, and put it up again. That worked just fine, EXCEPT THAT after a few minutes in that position the TV again came down about 1/4" or so, and the door scraped the bottom of the TV. I THEN DISCOVERED WHAT TEH PROBLEM WAS: The top bolt HOLES attaching the TV to the mount were OBLONG rather than round, and (following the instructions!) I had been careful not to over-tighten the bolts), but obviously I had not tightened them sufficiently to keep the TV from moving from the top of those holes to the bottom, so the TV was moving down on the mount. What I had to do (rather than take it all down again) was to use a very short screwdriver, have someone lift the TV so that the bolts were at the TOP of the oblong holes, and then tighten those bolts as much as I could with that short screwdriver, and that did it! This is why my principal negative comment about the mount was that these holes were OBLING rather than round. The only other problem I had was with the spacers which came with the unit. There were two sizes, but neither size fitted the 6MM bolts which my TV called for. (I needed the spacers, so I managed to drilled out the holes in the smaller ones to fit my bolts. If I hadn't done this, I would not have been able to tighten those bolts even with the short screw driver.) Otherwise the mount was PERFECT for my situation, and it is working perfectly since then.
