I used this for a mount for my center speaker over a large flat screen TV. The TV is standing on a base filled with equipment. I wanted the speaker above the TV for better acoustics. I have a very nice, but older media center that was custom made for projection tv's. I paid good money for that cabinet and didn't want to tear it down, just to get it built again for my new 65" plasma. Yes, to stand could have worked, but the tv gets too far into the cabinet and it looks like my new tv is in a cave. This device did the trick. Great hardware and very solid. Also, mounts TV only one inch from the wall. I have a very slim LED/LCD Sony Bravia and this is the best mount for my situation - the stud that I needed to fix it to is about 2" off center. Bought this for a "46 inch flatscreen and it works perfectly. Arm allows for great flexibility, can align the tv flat to watch on the couch or kitty corner to watch sports at the bar.
