I bought this light because I was having a hard time getting up in the morning now that it doesn't get light until around 7am here (Seattle, WA area). I need to work out in the mornings and I can get up at 4:30am during the summer because it's light then. Now we're in "the dark times" here and all I want to do at 4:30am is stay in bed. This light really does brighten the room, much to my husband's dismay. But it helps me wake up sooner and, after all, it is all about me! The light is not like sunlight, but that's OK. I just need light coming on gradually until it's super bright. I keep the light about 2 1/2 - 3 feet away from me on my night stand. It doesn't heat up and it's not so bright that I can't grab it and shut it off manually, if needed. I haven't figured out how to find that "sweet spot" in the timing for exactly when I want to actually get up vs when I want the light at it's maximum. I think the downside of this light so far is that the sunrise periods are 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes and you can't vary it in between. You're stuck with the preset periods. I also wish you didn't have to go through every single setting each time you want to change the waking time on a particular day. Seems for the price they could have made setting the various features a little more sophisticated. If the settings were a little more advanced I would give this product a full 5 stars."..."  Read more

The Equo is a stylish and somewhat functional light. I really like the dimmer switch on the light. When using the light - you can manipulate the light head to a different position so that it remains parallel to the surface, e.g., book, computer keyboard, etc. The arm of the light is actually kind of short - much shorter than you might imagine - so the light has to be position a little bit closer to what you are lighting. If you want to be able to place the light father away from your intended target - I would suggest the Z-bar light (which I also have). I purchased the banker desk lamp for my husband's home office upon his request for a green shaded banker desk lamp. I started hunting on the internet, and this was the nicest one I could find for the right price. I chose the antique brass because I prefer that look over the shine of regular brass. The base of the lamp has some weight to it , which is a good feature. You don't have to worry about knocking it over. The base in my opinion has a very nice design to it. The lamp was not inexpensive but it was not over $100.00. I always feel like you get what you pay for. There are some green banker lamps on the market for around $30.00, and they look like a $30.00 lamp. The lamp even came with a light bulb!! My husband loves his lamp."..."  Read more

I am serious about working at my desk. I need a light that puts out a good amount of light and is aesthetically pleasing. It is hard to find the former because companies are focusing on putting forth a beautiful lamp, but they make it with a wimpy light output and/or isn't very functional. Don't worry about this one! It's not the most beautiful lamp (it really is attractive, but there are definitely ones that are nicer looking), but it puts out a GREAT amount of light. You can rotate the shade and adjust the height to cover the proper amount of desk space you want. It really is nice and very functional. Also a nice feature is being able to use a simple compact flourescent bulb. So many of these new design have high-power LEDs. I am a little concerned about their power output...and you can't readily buy them when they need replacement. With this model you can go to a local store ([...]) and buy a bulb for a rather inexpensive price. I thought that I would need to get 2 lamps for my desk (4'-6' long), but 1 is doing the job I need it to do (provide a good amount of light to work at my desk)."..."  Read more
