I needed to replace a similar lamp in my bedroom that I used for general lighting and reading (I always lie on the floor next to the bed to read). The previous lamp had an acrylic top shade and a metal shade for the reading lamp portion. This lamp has glass shades for both. It assembled easily, stands up straight, the finish is smooth and uniform, the lights and switches work, it gives off good light, and the lamp and shades look good. What more could one ask for? And the top lamp is three way,which was a pleasant surprise. You must use a three way bulb in it. The only caveat, which is not an issue for me, is that both type A light bulbs, after insertion, do stick out a slight way beyond the planes of the shades."..."  Read more

I bought this light because I was having a hard time getting up in the morning now that it doesn't get light until around 7am here (Seattle, WA area). I need to work out in the mornings and I can get up at 4:30am during the summer because it's light then. Now we're in "the dark times" here and all I want to do at 4:30am is stay in bed. This light really does brighten the room, much to my husband's dismay. But it helps me wake up sooner and, after all, it is all about me! The light is not like sunlight, but that's OK. I just need light coming on gradually until it's super bright. I keep the light about 2 1/2 - 3 feet away from me on my night stand. It doesn't heat up and it's not so bright that I can't grab it and shut it off manually, if needed. I haven't figured out how to find that "sweet spot" in the timing for exactly when I want to actually get up vs when I want the light at it's maximum. I think the downside of this light so far is that the sunrise periods are 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes and you can't vary it in between. You're stuck with the preset periods. I also wish you didn't have to go through every single setting each time you want to change the waking time on a particular day. Seems for the price they could have made setting the various features a little more sophisticated. If the settings were a little more advanced I would give this product a full 5 stars."..."  Read more

The Equo is a stylish and somewhat functional light. I really like the dimmer switch on the light. When using the light - you can manipulate the light head to a different position so that it remains parallel to the surface, e.g., book, computer keyboard, etc. The arm of the light is actually kind of short - much shorter than you might imagine - so the light has to be position a little bit closer to what you are lighting. If you want to be able to place the light father away from your intended target - I would suggest the Z-bar light (which I also have). We bought three Quoizel lamps at the same time (pendant, torchiere and table lamp). The table lamp sits on a sideboard, and it is the perfect complement to the other two lamps (all three are in our great room). The globes on all three lamps look like glass, but are actually (heavy duty) plastic, and they are all beautiful, nonetheless. The table lamp has three standard-base sockets, each with its own pull chain, so it's easy to get the amount of brightness you want (we use clear 25W candelabra bulbs in it)."..."  Read more
