I love torchere lamps. But as I get older, I seem to need brighter lights in my living room so I can read and use my computer without squinting. So I bought some extra bright bulbs. My old torchere lamp was not rated high enough for the extra watts of my new bulbs and I was afraid I would start a fire. Not good. I needed a torchere lamp to fit these extra bright bulbs. This Mystere floor lamp was exactly what I needed! It is very attractive. I especially like the frosted glass bowl. It allows just the right amount of light to diffuse through it to capatilize on all that strong light, but softens the light enough so it produces no bright glare. I had looked at many buffet lamps with exhaustion prior to finding this lamp. I noticed the deminison for this lamp is approx. the same size as a buffet lamp. My only concern was the larger lamp shade so I bought one. I was stunned when I saw it. It is absolutely beautiful! Much nicer than any other buffet lamp on the market. The quality is excellent. Fabulous lamp. Heavy, yet well balanced. 3 way bulb so you can choose lighting mood: full power reading small print low light for kissing a sweetie pie. The shade is exquisite and understated. The inside of the shade is lined with satin like fabric so it's gorgeous to look at when you look up from reading. Beautiful combination of textures, metal, wood. We bought a Quoizel floor lamp and are thrilled with it too. Not matching. You know the stuff out there is usually a hit or miss. This lamp is the real deal. Also, Wayfair is the real deal. We've bought a number of items from them and they know how to serve their customers. PS This review is the real deal...we've been shopping for 4 months to decorate our apartment (we have very refined tastes - thank you very much) and Wayfair is such a relief to deal with. Yes... lamp has beautiful finish and a solid feel all around. the body is nominally brass, but i couldn't verify that all parts were brass. There is a non-brass weighting in the base and inside the main body (tube), but all the parts that matter, like the finish, fasteners, switch, harp, cord, are great quality. I didn't care for the appearance of the shade but that's an easy fix; the cord is longer than usually comes wiht a floor lamp, which was an added bonus; the pictures on line are true to the color ("oil rubbed bronze") and design of the actual item[...] when setting up, if the top (extensible) tube seems a bit loose, you can tighten the concentric collar in addition to tightening the adjustment knob; the light is a bit short for a floor lamp, which was what i needed (it is a reading lamp for me), but be sure this height matches your needs; there are similar lamps by the same maker which are taller, if you need the height; I would definitely order this item again and even considered getting a second one after i set up the first because i liked it so much; i did cross-compare this with many other lamps on line and in retail locations and chose this for its simplicity, the nice finish (based on what i saw in the photos), the unobtrusive color which makes it blend into many room decors, relatively compact size (i.e., small shade), and adjustable height."..."
