The bulb is hard to find - I ordered one from 1000bulbs - be sure to get something around 3500K. Its very bright (40W) but with the 3500K the hue is daylight, so it lights the room up very well. Note that the bulb is 12 inches in diameter.
The low profile shade is beautiful - and light comes out the top and bottom (not through the wood). Its also a bit shorter than I had expected, but it works really well. It manages to light up most of my LR, and I can tell we will enjoy it for a long time.
