I bought lamp mainly 6 months ago to use for a small l-shaped hallway to use it instead of the ceiling light because when that light goes out, Ill never be able to reach it to replace it even with my step ladder. Ive also been using this lamp for extra light when needed for my lap top which is easy to pick up and place by the table. In fact, the outlet I use is in back of the table, and I also have it plugged into an extension cord which hangs over a bookcase. For my purposes, it would be much better if the lamp had the turn on button, or a switch, on the lamp post instead of on the cord. Its supposed to be stepped on to turn on the lamp. For me, I have to go back and forth to turn on the lamp. What I will say is that it was a snap to put it together although I had trouble putting in the bulb. All and all, it is a good little lamp.
