All Lamps

I was ready to replace the 2 'cheap' lamps I had purchased when I moved into my apartment. I had trouble finding exactly what I wanted, but when I saw this lamp, I decided if it were as large and pretty as it looked, it would be just right - and IT IS! It's a beautiful lamp and very well made with a 3 way light. That's important to me as I use these in the living room and prefer a 30W light for TV viewing and the 70 or 100W light for reading. I have always had halogen lamps that use halogen bulbs.My previous one finally died after about 15yrs!! Looking to replace it with something similar and this lamp was it. The light it gives off is just as good as my previous lamp which used 300 watt bulbs ,this uses 190. People who complain about assembly should be embarassed. You just need to screw the poles together pull the cord and adjust the silver insert connections and you have a perfectly straight stable lamp. The dimmer switch works just fine people must abuse it or let their kids mess with it. If it should need replacing(not expecting to) go [...] and buy a switch knob replacement for a $1 please. IT looks great its not expesive and it gives off great light what else could you want. I purchased this product because my townhome doesn't have a ceiling light in the living room. I like to lay on the sofa and read but the lamps just didn't seem to provide me with adequate lighting. This lamp is perfect. I placed it in the corner between my sofa and love seat and then I angled the lamps so that now, no matter where I sit in the room I have plenty of light. Great match for similar lamp I already have. It's sleek, easy to position, and the best part is being able to adjust the amount of downward light to suit the requirements of reading, sewing, entertaining, or TV viewing. With all shades facing upward it creates a lovely soft lighting of the room via the slits of light. If I want to have task lighting I just turn two of the shades 180 degrees and, voila!, just what I need without having to bring in any other lighting source. And it stays handily out of the way. Of course, someone who is shorter than I am at 5' 8" may have a bit more difficulty making the changes, but that's an easy remedy.
