lamp has beautiful finish and a solid feel all around. the body is nominally brass, but i couldn't verify that all parts were brass. There is a non-brass weighting in the base and inside the main body (tube), but all the parts that matter, like the finish, fasteners, switch, harp, cord, are great quality. I didn't care for the appearance of the shade but that's an easy fix; the cord is longer than usually comes wiht a floor lamp, which was an added bonus; the pictures on line are true to the color ("oil rubbed bronze") and design of the actual item[...] when setting up, if the top (extensible) tube seems a bit loose, you can tighten the concentric collar in addition to tightening the adjustment knob; the light is a bit short for a floor lamp, which was what i needed (it is a reading lamp for me), but be sure this height matches your needs; there are similar lamps by the same maker which are taller, if you need the height; I would definitely order this item again and even considered getting a second one after i set up the first because i liked it so much; i did cross-compare this with many other lamps on line and in retail locations and chose this for its simplicity, the nice finish (based on what i saw in the photos), the unobtrusive color which makes it blend into many room decors, relatively compact size (i.e., small shade), and adjustable height."..."  Read more

Needed a better reading lamp in the living room and this floor lamp, with its swing arm, far surpasses the large table lamp I had before. Love the detail and the quality; it's heavier and more sturdy than other floor lamps I looked at. This lamp is an excellent choice. It uses 2 bulbs so it provides a great deal of (unshadowed) light. The flexible neck is easy to adjust for different sizes of music. The antique brass is very attractive. Even though the switch is on the cord it's only about 6 inches from the lamp base so you don't have to go fishing the cord out from behind the piano to turn the lamp off or on. I love my Grand Piano Lamp because, after 2 years of using the little battery-operated gooseneck lights, which are totally unsatisfactory, I can finally see my music clearly. I am an older lady with some eye problems that make reading in inadequate light very difficult. I play in a church orchestra, and frequently the overhead lights are dimmed way down. With my Grand Piano Lamp, all of the notes are easily readable. What a Godsend! Yes, I keep my lamp on my church instrument, not my home instrument.
