I needed to replace a similar lamp in my bedroom that I used for general lighting and reading (I always lie on the floor next to the bed to read). The previous lamp had an acrylic top shade and a metal shade for the reading lamp portion. This lamp has glass shades for both. It assembled easily, stands up straight, the finish is smooth and uniform, the lights and switches work, it gives off good light, and the lamp and shades look good. What more could one ask for? And the top lamp is three way,which was a pleasant surprise. You must use a three way bulb in it.
