I am serious about working at my desk. I need a light that puts out a good amount of light and is aesthetically pleasing. It is hard to find the former because companies are focusing on putting forth a beautiful lamp, but they make it with a wimpy light output and/or isn't very functional. Don't worry about this one! It's not the most beautiful lamp (it really is attractive, but there are definitely ones that are nicer looking), but it puts out a GREAT amount of light. You can rotate the shade and adjust the height to cover the proper amount of desk space you want. It really is nice and very functional. Also a nice feature is being able to use a simple compact flourescent bulb. So many of these new design have high-power LEDs. I am a little concerned about their power output...and you can't readily buy them when they need replacement. With this model you can go to a local store ([...]) and buy a bulb for a rather inexpensive price. I thought that I would need to get 2 lamps for my desk (4'-6' long), but 1 is doing the job I need it to do (provide a good amount of light to work at my desk)."..." Read more

Spend many hours looking to replace a black torchiere floor lamp with reading light. This one was perfect, even better than my old favorite.
Main light in living room with flexible reading lamp for late night reading.
Love the fact that BOTH lamps have dimmers! Old one did not. Would buy again.

The finish on this is outstanding and the quality is amazing. I had to laugh at the previous reviewer, who seemed to think this was a floor lamp. It is called a BUFFET lamp and clearly states that it is 30" high. Not sure how this website could have made it more clear that it's not a floor lamp.
