I bought this light because I was having a hard time getting up in the morning now that it doesn't get light until around 7am here (Seattle, WA area). I need to work out in the mornings and I can get up at 4:30am during the summer because it's light then. Now we're in "the dark times" here and all I want to do at 4:30am is stay in bed.
This light really does brighten the room, much to my husband's dismay. But it helps me wake up sooner and, after all, it is all about me! The light is not like sunlight, but that's OK. I just need light coming on gradually until it's super bright. I keep the light about 2 1/2 - 3 feet away from me on my night stand. It doesn't heat up and it's not so bright that I can't grab it and shut it off manually, if needed.
I haven't figured out how to find that "sweet spot" in the timing for exactly when I want to actually get up vs when I want the light at it's maximum.
I think the downside of this light so far is that the sunrise periods are 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes and you can't vary it in between. You're stuck with the preset periods. I also wish you didn't have to go through every single setting each time you want to change the waking time on a particular day. Seems for the price they could have made setting the various features a little more sophisticated. If the settings were a little more advanced I would give this product a full 5 stars."..." Read more
