I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this bed for the ten year old Akita I just adopted (she has some minor arthritis). Because of her heavy coat, I knew she hated to be hot, so I thought an inflatable bed would be cooler than a traditional dog bed. I was happily surprised. She lays on this with or without the cover, and I tested it myself to verify that is indeed comfortable. (The air channels support weight very evenly.) It's also easy to clean. On the con side, I think I'll need to add air every 7-10 days to keep it firm enough, and it is rather noisy when she moves around on it. But those are minor things.
