I hunted around for quite some time looking for an outside water/fountain system for my dogs. I was tired of constantly rinsing/refreshing their water dishes; or them not having fresh water when I wasn't home. We have big dogs (150lb each) and one drink would dirty the water. This system is hooked up and working great. Comes on automatically when the dog comes near, stays running while they are close, and shuts off very shortly after they have moved out of range. They picked up on how it worked quickly and drink from the fountain all the time. I have a stainless steel bowl underneath to catch the excess water which they also drink from.
