This is one of the best CD towers I have ever seen or purchased! It was easy to put together, although I'm very experienced at putting together DIY furniture. All the pieces and pre-drilled holes matched up perfectly. All the pieces and hardware were in the box, and nothing was broken. Came double-boxed and UPS took very care of it in transit. The outer box was not damaged at all, as some other reviewers have mentioned. For first-timers, you might want to have a friend help out. This also hugs the wall great and has a very small footprint. And it looks great. It just blends into the background. Exactly, what I was looking for. The alignment, sizing and spacing of the shelves is perfect. It holds a full 1080 CDs. 30 CDs per shelf and 12 shelves per column (3 columns). The 30 CDs fit comfortably, not smashed. Some reviewers have complained that the shelves are not the full depth of a CD. I actually find this more convenient. It's much easier getting CDs in and out with this design. Also, the shelves are grooved on one side to fit into the brackets. The shelves are very secure and don't slide because of this. They hold the CDs very well. Also, because of the shorter shelf side to side, it does not sag when it is full of CDs. All in all a really terrific CD tower, especially for the price. The only disclaimer is that this is particle board, and not real wood. If this were a solid wood cabinet, it would cost three or four times the price. These shelves can hold quite a lot of stuff.
I bought two of these shelves and loaded up my CD collection (currently over 600 CDs) onto them. This left me three shelves for DVDs and one for comic books. Yes, surprisingly this storage rack works great for graphic novels, with the books only sticking out from the shelves about an inch or so.
One downside is that you are somewhat limited to shelf placement around the middle shelf (which is unmoving and is for support). This inconvenience prevents spacing shelves for exact DVD height for the entire unit.
Another downside is that the storage rack's height goes from around standing level to the floor. Sure, this sounds great, but it is a pain having to bend over to try to thumb through CDs on your hands and knees with your face on the floor. I was originally thinking of getting a wall-mounted unit to avoid this issue and also free up some floorspace, but I figured a floor model would fit more media.
My new plan is to purchase two more of this model. I'll fill up the top halves of them with CDs. Then I'll clutter the bottom halves with DVD collections and graphic novels...as these are thicker media that are easier to see and grab on lower shelves. Thus, no more bending down to try and read music titles.

I had max-ed out my old shelving units (mainly tall CD towers) and had various DVD collections (TV, reality, sports) stuffed in boxes in the basement, so I wanted to incorporate my current CD collection (just under 500) and the orphan DVD collections in one place. I hesitated with this shelving unit (wondering if it was too big and bulky, and some of the negative reviews got me thinking) but ordered anyway and I have no regrets. It is awesome. I have everything together (and even have shelves for my burgeoning BD collection) and I have plenty of room to adapt. It is solidly built (for what it is) and looks good vith various media in it. The fact that the shelves are only as deep as a CD or DVD box make it even better and easier to get a CD/DVD out and it doesn't stick out too much, just enough, and doesn't have a lot of dust gathering empty shelf room. These a made of solid wood and come fully assembled, except for the shelves. Everything is packed well, but two shelves are screwed in. I ordered two right away for all of our DVDs (we have too many). One of the shelves in one unit was damaged, and they were screwed in at inconvenient levels. They were easy to replace and the splinter from the damaged one proved that even the shelves are solid wood, not pressed wood or plywood. Luckily, plenty of extra shelves and plastic shelf-pins (push in for the shelves to sit on) are included, at least for the DVD shelf sizes. I suppose if you wanted to use them for CDs, you'd probably use all of the shelves, but we don't.
The quality is great on these and the design is elegant. I am tempted to buy another just for our CDs, but these will do for now. I highly recommend this product if you want something more upscale in quality and look than the usual cheap media storage shelves."..." Read more
