All DVD & CD Storage

These shelves can hold quite a lot of stuff. I bought two of these shelves and loaded up my CD collection (currently over 600 CDs) onto them. This left me three shelves for DVDs and one for comic books. Yes, surprisingly this storage rack works great for graphic novels, with the books only sticking out from the shelves about an inch or so. One downside is that you are somewhat limited to shelf placement around the middle shelf (which is unmoving and is for support). This inconvenience prevents spacing shelves for exact DVD height for the entire unit. Another downside is that the storage rack's height goes from around standing level to the floor. Sure, this sounds great, but it is a pain having to bend over to try to thumb through CDs on your hands and knees with your face on the floor. I was originally thinking of getting a wall-mounted unit to avoid this issue and also free up some floorspace, but I figured a floor model would fit more media. My new plan is to purchase two more of this model. I'll fill up the top halves of them with CDs. Then I'll clutter the bottom halves with DVD collections and graphic novels...as these are thicker media that are easier to see and grab on lower shelves. The wood is a laminate but looks very good and is solid. There are 8 shelves that rest on pegs. There are holes for the pegs all the way from top to bottom so no shortage of available shelf positions. I used 6 of them to have the correct height for 2 shelves of blu-rays and 4 shelves of dvd. I assume the 8 shelves would be about CD height if all were used. This is not an extremely deep unit and is rather tall so it is top and front heavy. It will tip over on carpet with the doors open in some cases unless anchored. It would probably be ok on hardwood with some weight in it. I had to use screws from a jar to anchor to the wall as it did not come with any for that purpose. Over all I am happy with the unit but in my opinion it would have been better an inch or two deeper, wider and shorter so it would be more stable on carpet."..."  Read more

I'd been looking for a good-looking storage cabinet to hold my 600+ CD's that didn't take up an entire wall. I didn't have a lot of wall space to devote to it and all the cabinets I had seen before were either too small or way too large. As Goldilocks would say, this one is just right.Assembly was no problem for me. I put it together by myself in about an hour. All the joints fit right and there was no damage to the parts. Well, actually a couple of the corners on the backing panels were a little bent and wrinkled, [...] but they cannot be seen anyway so it's hardly worth complaining.Unlike my previous storage unit, which was just an open rack, the sliding doors and the design of this piece make it look more like furniture than a CD rack. I suppose it would do just as well with fewer shelves to hold DVD's but I'm not using it for that.I am please I found and purchased this item and would recommend it to anyone who has a lot of CD's and no where nice to put them."..."  Read more

I have a weakness for books and for Teaching Company courses, and it is very easy to accumulate more of this stuff than I have shelves for. The double-wide version of this piece fit exactly in a blank space of wall. I was a bit afraid that with the size and weight I would find it awkward to assemble single-handed, but it went together rapidly, and before the adjustable shelves were added it was not too heavy for me to manipulate. For my purposes, I was able to put two pair of adjustable shelves above the fixed ones and two below. I did wish there had been a few more hole positions for the pegs -- it appeared there would have been space for three, not two, adjustable shelves in each open area, and then I would have had one more shelf for small paperback books.
