All DVD & CD Storage

These shelves can hold quite a lot of stuff. I bought two of these shelves and loaded up my CD collection (currently over 600 CDs) onto them. This left me three shelves for DVDs and one for comic books. Yes, surprisingly this storage rack works great for graphic novels, with the books only sticking out from the shelves about an inch or so. One downside is that you are somewhat limited to shelf placement around the middle shelf (which is unmoving and is for support). This inconvenience prevents spacing shelves for exact DVD height for the entire unit. Another downside is that the storage rack's height goes from around standing level to the floor. Sure, this sounds great, but it is a pain having to bend over to try to thumb through CDs on your hands and knees with your face on the floor. I was originally thinking of getting a wall-mounted unit to avoid this issue and also free up some floorspace, but I figured a floor model would fit more media. My new plan is to purchase two more of this model. I'll fill up the top halves of them with CDs. Then I'll clutter the bottom halves with DVD collections and graphic novels...as these are thicker media that are easier to see and grab on lower shelves. These a made of solid wood and come fully assembled, except for the shelves. Everything is packed well, but two shelves are screwed in. I ordered two right away for all of our DVDs (we have too many). One of the shelves in one unit was damaged, and they were screwed in at inconvenient levels. They were easy to replace and the splinter from the damaged one proved that even the shelves are solid wood, not pressed wood or plywood. Luckily, plenty of extra shelves and plastic shelf-pins (push in for the shelves to sit on) are included, at least for the DVD shelf sizes. I suppose if you wanted to use them for CDs, you'd probably use all of the shelves, but we don't. The quality is great on these and the design is elegant. I am tempted to buy another just for our CDs, but these will do for now. The wood is a laminate but looks very good and is solid. There are 8 shelves that rest on pegs. There are holes for the pegs all the way from top to bottom so no shortage of available shelf positions. I used 6 of them to have the correct height for 2 shelves of blu-rays and 4 shelves of dvd. I assume the 8 shelves would be about CD height if all were used. This is not an extremely deep unit and is rather tall so it is top and front heavy. It will tip over on carpet with the doors open in some cases unless anchored. It would probably be ok on hardwood with some weight in it. I had to use screws from a jar to anchor to the wall as it did not come with any for that purpose. Over all I am happy with the unit but in my opinion it would have been better an inch or two deeper, wider and shorter so it would be more stable on carpet."..."  Read more

[...] Looked beautiful right from the box. And that's pretty much all you have to do, just take it out of the box, remove the packing and set up the shelves in the configuration that you want. The rest of it is already put together. No tools are needed, and I had the rack in place and filled with all of my media in 15 minutes. I'm no engineer, and this rack is perfect for people like me with no assembly skills. All of the unit but the inside shelves are hardwood, with solid construction. The shelves are pressed wood and kind of lightweight compared to the rest of the rack, but they fit securely once they're put in. You get plenty of shelves and pegs for any configuration that you want. It's surprising how much you can get in the unit considering how compact it is. Overall, it's a beautiful piece that will look right in place with your other good furniture.
