These a made of solid wood and come fully assembled, except for the shelves. Everything is packed well, but two shelves are screwed in. I ordered two right away for all of our DVDs (we have too many). One of the shelves in one unit was damaged, and they were screwed in at inconvenient levels. They were easy to replace and the splinter from the damaged one proved that even the shelves are solid wood, not pressed wood or plywood. Luckily, plenty of extra shelves and plastic shelf-pins (push in for the shelves to sit on) are included, at least for the DVD shelf sizes. I suppose if you wanted to use them for CDs, you'd probably use all of the shelves, but we don't. The quality is great on these and the design is elegant. I am tempted to buy another just for our CDs, but these will do for now. I highly recommend this product if you want something more upscale in quality and look than the usual cheap media storage shelves."..."  Read more

I use this product to store all my video's, cd's and dvd's, from music, to movies, to anime collection in one accessible location..When I received my product, I opened the box, to check, verify and separate all pieces that the assembly instructions showed/stated that comes with it, in order to assemble the product.Then I just followed the instructions and illustrations, without any difficulties or problems.Since this product is both tall, wide and big in size and can hold an incredible amount on it's shelves. It went without saying (common sense)that it was necessary to anchor it against the wall, and did I so with an anchor, in each of the 3 major sections, hidden behind the "wood" backing.My cats, love to sleep on the vey top of it. No worries of any tipping or toppling over at all.Some other mention the shelves being "thin or flimsy". This does not cause any concern, for 2 reasons.1) The shelves are adjustable, so there are numerous holes on the sides and along the "wood" backing of each section, that you can easily added extra "toggles or the likes similar to those that are originally included with the product" to add/give it (the shelves) extra support, to hold the massive amount media it's capable of at full capacity. I planned to do so from the start and I have as the situation requires (again-common sense).2) I read all the reviews already posted on this product beforehand. However, the price, and quality and holding capacity of the product, [...] I think for all that, you more than get you money's worth. I had been seriously looking for a long time, comparing similar products, their size, holding compacity, with doors/no doors, etc. aong with comparitive pricing, both online and in stores.I can tell you, you won't find any other similar product anywhere, with all the features this one possess's, and definitely NOT for the price it is sold for here.That is why I knew that this is exactly what I wanted, and I love it. This particular rack was the best value for storage capacity that I could find in real, solid wood. The finish wasn't as dark as I expected, but is acceptable. I ordered the darker finish. The finish is a bit dull and there are a few slightly rough spots on the dowels, but the finish certainly meets expectations and is good for the cost. The wood quality is consistent and the piece is built well. The measurements are accurate although the feet do add a bit to the width. I only wish there was a similar, streamlined, thin-profile rack with some sort of simple solid wood door so I could close my collection away out-of-sight. I ordered 1 of these DVD racks and 2 matching CD racks (slightly shorter) - all consistent in quality and finish. The racks are very stable against a wall and are perfect for storing a large collection. My hubby and I like them a lot. If you do not plan to fill each dowel shelf completely, though, I'd recommend purchasing some extra spacers to hold your DVDs tightly and prevent them from tipping over and tumbling off the dowels. Also, FYI, to remove spacers, place them in the center of the dowels and slightly squeeze dowels together in order to remove or install spacers - they fit snugly in order to be secure."..."  Read more
