I had max-ed out my old shelving units (mainly tall CD towers) and had various DVD collections (TV, reality, sports) stuffed in boxes in the basement, so I wanted to incorporate my current CD collection (just under 500) and the orphan DVD collections in one place. I hesitated with this shelving unit (wondering if it was too big and bulky, and some of the negative reviews got me thinking) but ordered anyway and I have no regrets. It is awesome. I have everything together (and even have shelves for my burgeoning BD collection) and I have plenty of room to adapt. It is solidly built (for what it is) and looks good vith various media in it. The fact that the shelves are only as deep as a CD or DVD box make it even better and easier to get a CD/DVD out and it doesn't stick out too much, just enough, and doesn't have a lot of dust gathering empty shelf room. This particular rack was the best value for storage capacity that I could find in real, solid wood. The finish wasn't as dark as I expected, but is acceptable. I ordered the darker finish. The finish is a bit dull and there are a few slightly rough spots on the dowels, but the finish certainly meets expectations and is good for the cost. The wood quality is consistent and the piece is built well. The measurements are accurate although the feet do add a bit to the width. I only wish there was a similar, streamlined, thin-profile rack with some sort of simple solid wood door so I could close my collection away out-of-sight. I ordered 1 of these DVD racks and 2 matching CD racks (slightly shorter) - all consistent in quality and finish. The racks are very stable against a wall and are perfect for storing a large collection. My hubby and I like them a lot. If you do not plan to fill each dowel shelf completely, though, I'd recommend purchasing some extra spacers to hold your DVDs tightly and prevent them from tipping over and tumbling off the dowels. Also, FYI, to remove spacers, place them in the center of the dowels and slightly squeeze dowels together in order to remove or install spacers - they fit snugly in order to be secure."..."  Read more

This is easily one of the most affordable multimedia stands available. It's fairly easy to put together, and I felt comfortable enough with the quality to purchase three of them. Let me offer a few thoughts on the purchases: 1) The color is Cinnamon Cherry but actually doesn't look Cinnamon or Cherry--it looks more ebony to me. Definitely a darker shade, but still fits in well with surrounding furniture. 2) The backing for the unit is folded in thirds, so even after you unfold it, it doesn't really lie flat against the back of the unit. There are plenty of small nails/brads to keep it in place, but the creases still show. 3) I used power tools for speed in assembly, but be careful with them. The wood is mostly particle board and doesn't lend itself well to over-tightening. Also, don't make a mistake with any of the assembly steps, because reversing it could potentially damage the wood or appearance. 4) The assembled unit is very light-weight, and easy to fall over--so fill it up with media right away and it will stay in place. 5) Look at the measurements carefully, as the unit is much smaller in person, than it appears in the picture--thus, I bought 3 of them! 6) I filled mine up with Video tapes, which gave me two extra shelves per unit as spares. You'll need the extra two shelves (which are included) if you are filling yours up with only CD's, as they are much shorter. For videotapes, I filled up each unit with about 145 tapes. For videotapes, the unit will use 5 shelves, DVD's 6 shelves, and CD's 7 shelves (including base as shelf). All shelves are included, and accessory pieces are top-notch."..."  Read more
