Originally, I just wanted a Queen size Headboard without the platform, but it's only available as a platform bed. The platform bed is designed to hold a box spring and upper mattress. If you own a Select Comfort air mattress, it will also work. [...] I began experimenting on my own. This bed is beautiful without a dust ruffle. But if you want to use a dust ruffle, you can; however, you have to remove the 3 wooden slats [...]and no it will not hamper the structural integreity of the bed). I then lifted and set my old metal bedframe on the floor (inside the inner panels of the platform bed). I then set my boxsprings in place, then my dust ruffle (and it's tight,you will have about 1/4" on all 4 sides to pull the dust ruffle down to the floor, and the side bed panels will still show) and then my mattress. This bed really does look fabulous. The Headboard has nice generous proportions, and heigth. It's difficult to tell from the web picture, but the curved ends of this headboard are just way to cool."..."  Read more

We bought this bed for our new loft-like master bedroom. The assembly took about an hour, but once it was put together the bed fitted perfectly in the large bedroom. The bed frame construction is low modern Asian style, that you only need the mattress (no box spring). The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because the headboard is white, which is fine since it sits low and the pillows cover them up, but would have preferred it in dark brown. I have only had this bed for 2 months, but the website keeps demanding I submit a review, so I am not going to delay any longer. It is my primary bed and I love it; it's beautiful and just what I wanted. I have a fairly thick mattress and there is no way this could be anything other than a platform! (A box-spring would be impossible to add, just fyi.) I am 140 lbs and have no trouble with the bed. It comes with 4 centre supports which go right down the middle, and the support closest to the bottom of the bed is CLEARLY visible, so I chose to leave that off. The three others are working very well. However, when my 210-lb husband climbs into bed, the bed groans and creeks terribly, and it sounds like it's going to break each time!! It hasn't, but sure sounds like it will. For when it's just me, the bed doesn't creak or groan, but with both of us... not sure I'd buy it again. Good luck whatever you decide!"..."  Read more

This bed is gorgeous, classy, and unique! Just having it in the room transforms everything and the design ranks high in the "showplace" category. My full-sized bed is my primary bed. My only disappointment (thus the 4-star rating for what should really be a 5) is that the bed slats that come with it are VERY thin and flimsy. For the quality of this furniture and the cost, one would think that the manufacturers would not have skimped on such an important detail. I plan to buy sturdy plywood to hold up my mattress. In the meantime, a box spring (covered with a dark fitted sheet) sits down into the frame and onto the floor and my mattress is on top of it in a conventional setup; which defeats the purpose in having a platform bed, but it still LOOKS like it's a low-profile platform set up. All in all, I would recommend this with the caveat that owners will have to come up with solutions concerning the slats."..."  Read more
